Ok, so Im at a wheel shop today getting one of my rims checked for "out of roundness" and having a new tire put on it. Found a nice set of rims I want too btw. Anyways, the car is ready to go and Im talking to the mechanic about cars in general etc etc/ This guy and his girl are walking out and get into a Miata that had stickers all on it, lowered, exhaust and some other things from what im told. The mechanic obviously knew the guy and said "watch this", he calls the guys name as he is backing out and when he looks taps the roof of my car looking at him. The guy had a cocky smile and said "I eat those all day". I start laughing and told the mechanic "I hope he has FI of some sort to back that up.". The mechanic said "Nah hes not turbo yet but he does have the front mount installed already, but he has done ALOT of stuff to it". So question I got is... with NA and mods can a Miata REALLY out run an s2000... even with a turbo can it do it? I know the Mazdaspeed is now turbo'd but it isnt even close to being as fast.

Sorry couldn't resist. I have no doubt that given enough money you could build any car to outrun an S. But, adding the weight of a non-functional piece of equipment to a car is going in the absolutely wrong direction. Priceless.

No way in hell an NA Miata can keep up with S2000(unless he )

 

Thats what i was thinkin... im sure ill run into him sometime soon... Burlington NC is not very big. I had guys at that shop trying to tell me more about the s2000 than i know. Such as "A header will add no less than 15hp" So i dont doubt the guy in the miata had no idea what he was talking about... probably just trying to mouth in front of his girl... i had the urge to hop in the car and regulate him but decided not to. Only a matter of tiem before i run into him at a light, show him what a s2000 wil lreally do since hes probably never run one before.

 

I hate when people mouthing off.

 

A turbo miata would have a good chance of beating a stock s2k if he has a good set up but NA there's no chance in the world.......unless you call dropping a 302ci in it as NA.....now I don't think you have much of a chance....unless he drives as my mom

 

LOL, yea the Monster Miata i guess is still NA, but that car would probably beat alot faster cars than our s2000s. I didnt notice the front mounted intercooler... but would I did notice was the a pillar pods with only one gauge in it and the BIG ASS tachometer in the middle of the dashboard... that thing was freaking HUGE, it almost touched the top of the windshield.

 

the mazdaspeed turbos only have like 180hp right? and in a 2300lb car...ehh, not enough in my opinion.
