Default MY06 vs '04 STI Modded

So after knowing my co-worker for about a little over a year now and us always bullshitting about cars at work... we finally got to run yesterday. The outcome was expected because I already knew what his mods were. We did a few runs but I'll only give you two of them... one from 40 MPH and the longest from 60 MPH. His mods are 4in downpipe tapered to a 3in outlet of the DP... 3in midpipe that tapers at the end to a 2.75in outlet of the midpipe... and finishes with a 2.75in muffler. He also has an intake and thursday of last week he got his ECU street tuned (not sure of the brand of ECU). I'm stock.

From a 40 MPH roll...
I was in second gear right at the sweet spot... 6000 RPM. He was in second also... not sure of RPM. So we go at it after the 3 beeps (Me beeping) and right away I pull a half a car on him and then down hill from there... lol. We get into third and he starts creeping on me and we had to shut down at the top of 3rd. My front bumper was at his front fender.

From a 60 MPH roll...
I was in 3rd gear, again at the sweet spot... 6000 RPM. He was in 4th gear at around 3000 or 3500 RPM (he didn't start in 3rd because he's about 5000 RPM and he only takes the car to about 6000 RPM cause after 6k he loses boost. So to start in 3rd for him would be pointless cause he would have to shift right after that.). He beeps this time and we go at it. We're even throughout my 3rd gear. I maybe jumped on him a half a fender due to his turbo lag. But then he just started pulling and didn't stop. By 125, when we shut down, he had about 1.5 to 2 car lengths on me (most gained from when he first started to pull). Once we got up there in the MPH, he was gained slowly.

All in all good run for both of us. That just gives me more hopes against a stocker... should be about even.

My co-worker is getting his car dynoed on saturday (so he plans), and if it goes through, I'll post you guys his dyno numbers.

You won from a modded STI

I think they have special STI's and EVO9's over there

I keep on reading that stock S2000's beat or are at least even to those cars and I cannot really believe it.

But I never had an encounter with one of those, so I don't really know.

But after driving the non STi version I have a difficult time believing our stock car's can beat a modded STi... And after reading different test drive's of the EVO9 and seeing their test figures?

But I'm not calling B.S. and I'm not saying you're lying, I'm just saying I find it hard to believe and I want to have one of those encounters too. The thing is we rarely or never have street encounters over here

But... very nice kill anyway!

Dude... what are you talking about? Never once in there did I say I won. I lost both times!!!!... lol. I said he had me by 1.5 to 2 car lengths by the end of 125. I think you read it wrong. There's no way a stock S2K will win against a modded STI... no way.

I think you need to read what I wrote again... lol.

I have a modded sti and the outcome sounds about right. He should've started in 3rd gear on the first run and he would've beat you by more. I think if his sti was stock you would of had him though. Never heard of a 4in. downpipe, thought they always started as 3in and then tapered down to 2.5. Nice runs though, take him to the canyons next time and you'll eat him up for sure

Yeah... I think it's Turbo XS that makes it. My other friend that had a WRX also had the same DP and he loved it. He said that alone makes a huge difference.

Stock for stock would definitely be interesting. Actually... there's this guy that I sorta know that everytime I see him, he is always talking smack because he thinks the STI will swallow me up on the Highway. He's always like... that thing's got no torque and I'll eat you up by car lengths. Then he starts going... it's funny how you honda guys always ask for head starts. He's an idiot... next time I'm just going to call him out on his bluff and make him respect the S2K.

Sorry, my mistake, I read it very quickly at work (ssssht ) and assumed in the first run you got him at the beginning and stayed almost even with him. Perhaps you can tell your encounters in Dutch the next time

Also I never thought a standard S2000 would be able to keep up with a standard STi. But as I said, nice run!

lightweight + good gearing + less drivetrain HP loss (compared to 4WD)and a good driver helps out with the power handicap of the S2000 vs STi. I'm not saying you should go out and run the first STi you could find, just something to keep in mind.

Over here in Belgium there are hardly any GTI or sportscars left. Due to the very high taxes you have to pay once to get those kind of cars on the road (5000

i wouldn't call it losing boost, it's just the boost tapers down after around 6200rpm because the vf39(stock sti turbo) is not big enough to support high boost @ high rpms
