No offense to anyone that owns the Neon but after all it is still a Neon. Sure you can make it quick but you still have to live with the craftsmanship of the whole thing. I can beat up a Metro. They take lots of abuse and so does my S. I have gotten 28mpg on the freeway. The interior looks,,,well plastic. The car was designed for an econobox not a road racer. I bought my S and didn't like the Neon. If I wanted a fast car I would buy a Pinto and put a 351 in it. Looks ugly but goes fast. Maybe a Gremlin with a 350. Same concept. Looks ugly but goes fast. For me no SRT. Go eat them up this weekend and post the vid. Take'em for there econobox.

My experiences with my friend goes way back to when we both were stock. His car is a '03 with a Mopar Stage 1 kit, plus some exhaust system I'm not familiar with. My car has an AEM V2 CAI, '02 ECU and I can take him now where we'd both be neck and neck before. The higher the end speed (mph), the more likely that I'd pull harder on top.

We're currently working on his SRT to make it better, hopefully to have an LSD installed soon. His impressions between my car and his is this... while he feels that he has the power edge over me (and he does), having the bigger motor and intercooled boost... he can't easily beat my car and if he even screws up just a tiny bit, that's a sure win for me.

I like the SRT4, lots of fun and easy to mod but I just can't stand how it handles. I'm certain that it handles quite nicely on its own, but I've been spoiled by my S, if you know what I mean.

I don't like those Neons. They seem pretty crappy; quick but crappy.

I like how you prefaced it with "no offense"..hahahaha..... None take.... Anyways, if it's a "Neon", lets level the field and from now on call all STI's "Imprezas", Grand National's "Regals", etc etc. Because, if you know anything about automobiles, the SRT has as much in common with a Neon as the STI has with an Impreza or the EVO VIII has in common with a Lancer....

Fair enough?

I raced one at the track once. All I have to say is that anything can happen when racing. Front wheel drive cars are just too limited in straight line racing without sticky tires. (Colder weather at the time)
Long story short

1/8
s2000 9.4 at 77
60ft 2.4

Srt4 10.1 at 76mph
60ft 2.6

Off the line I had 1and1/2 cars on him and never looked back. In no way am I saying thery are slow, just limited sometimes.
