From a roll should be able to take an R32 I would think. From a dig very doubtful with their AWD and all.
The GTi especially stock should be no competition to an S2000.

stock for stock, can we take an R32?
IIRC the mk5 isn't that much quicker, if any, than the mk4...and i know the s2000 can take the mk4 pretty easily on a roll

but i also agree they have the best sounding exhaust note. everytime i see one i turn off my radio and roll down the windows to enjoy the aural sex0r.

and for this reason i love riding/driving my friend's mk4

Once your in vtec that doesn't matter though. HP to weight is what will win the race. Of course driver plays a big role as well.

lol are you serious? we are way faster than that car....

207 hp 200 tq 3400 LBS

240 hp 161 tq 2856 LBS

i weigh 155 he weighs 300+ lol maybe thats why too

trust me i raced him many times, he doesnt even want to ask me anymore
The GTIs are underrated a bit: more like 210hp and 230lb/tq when you look at actual dynos. Also, the curb weight of the MT is a bit under 3100lbs, the DSG being 100 or so pounds heavier than that.

Not sure where 3400lb curb weight comes from; maybe DSG, sunroof, leather/all luxury options, and driver included.

Regardless, S2000 should win by a car or two's length from a roll, a bit more from a dig. Watch out though, with just a chip they're putting out 255hp and 305lb/tq (crank numbers, of course).

Stock GTI's are pretty slow and a stock s2k should have no problem taking one.

It doesn't weight 3400lbs, a base one is about 3000, and fully loaded are about 3300.

They're also underrated at 200bhp/207ft-lbs, they dyno about 190whp.

It's a mid 14 second car stock, the best times so far are 14.2's.

The fastest stage 1 time is a 13.5@100, but they usually run low 14/high 13's though and usually trap around 99.

The fastest stage 2 time is 13.41@105.85, there's a good amount in the 13.4-13.7 area, 100-103 is normal. I trapped 102.2 my first time ever running the car.

As far as R32's, the MKIV is faster all around. Stock MKV GTI's and R32's are a wash in straight line performance, you can put 1K into the GTI, and be about 10 seconds faster to 130 though.

I'm still looking for an S2K in the Tampa Bay area, if anyone wants to do some runs...

i hear mk4's are faster than mk5 GTIs.. this true?

anyways
i have a friend with a Mk4 GTI VR6 with intake, exhaust and ecu chip, and back seats taken out (-150lbs he says)

I have raced him stock, i/h/e, and i/h (Stock exhaust) and ive beat him by about a length or so from a roll, and from 0-end of 5th i have him by 3-4 car lengths
in which he says, he then starts to come back because the one time we raced to that, i shifted into 6th and let off the gas but didnt brake so he thought he was pulling hardcore!

hmmm 3300 maybe my friend also has the 18" wheels as well, those are freaking heavy.. haha but from a roll i took him about 2-3 cars i know for sure, the next day he got a apr chip, the 5 hour trial version, i barely beat him like i would say my front bumper... those were from rolls at 45 mph, and from first gear roll he was ahead til i hit third and were dead on, but i won most of those rolls, from a dig, i totally raped him cause his launch was bad
