Ok so Is this normal. I race my buddys stock 05 red s2000 with by 08 black s2000 cr and lost pretty badly both of a digg and a roll. anyone got ideas on the outcome.

 

I wonder what might be under your buddy's "stock 05" hood and/or what he might have inside the rear dif housing.

You might also try swapping cars and see if the results change.

 

There shouldn't be much difference truthfully from an 05 and 08. It should've been practically even if both were stock. You might want to check your buddy's if he is really stock. The other possibility is driver skills. As another mentioned, switch cars and see if the results are the same.

driver skill plays a huge part in any race. although it should be less so if from a roll...

You are only 50-100 lbs lighter, and you have the same or practically the same power. keep in mind, if he removes his spare, that small weight advantage could be zero. it's worse yet if he's thin and you're not. roughly, you have as much as a (100lbs/2850lbs) = 3.5% advantage in power-to-weight ratio (in theory). the square root of that is your acceleration difference: up to +1.7%.

a car that is 1.7% faster could be soundly beaten by the 'slower' car using better shifting and a better launch. your buddy probably beat you because he's had his car longer and knows how to drive it.

 

How many miles on the 08? My car didnt trap 101mph in the 1/4 mile till it had 35k on the motor. These cars get noticable faster when broken in.
