Default Raced a Ferrari 348 GTS!

What a fantastic race.

Driving on the 495 beltway the other day, I hear all this noise (reving!) coming from behind me. I look in my rearview mirror and see a red Ferrari on my tail. This thing looked lower then my car. I couldn't believe it! Honestly, I wasn't even thinking about trying to race, I just wanted a better look at it.

I look back in my rearview again and I see him switch to the right lane, on my passenger side. I knew then he was going to try to race! I'm not a big racer but I figured what the hell, how often do you get to race a Ferrari?

Well, as soon as I noticed he switched to the lane next to me, I slammed it into 3rd and floored it. We were doing about 60-65 mph then. He slowly passes me as we approach 95 mph.

He switches to my lane, and I'm right on his rear. We begin to accelerate and pass 110. I'm still right on his rear. I couldn't believe it.

I then notice my AC is on! It was like 98 degrees and humid as hell. I hate having the AC on, but it was a must that day since I was in work attire. I got so "wrapped" up in the fact that I was racing a Ferrari that I forgot to shut it off!

As soon as I turned it off, I realize my exit (66W) was about a 1/2 mile ahead, so I began to let off the accelerator and the Ferrari continued on its way. I never expected to beat him, (especially 130mph +) but I'm sure I surprised the hell out of him, and that's all I wanted!

You must have been drifting him.

Good job nonetheless.

I was at a track event a few weeks ago, and when I got there I saw a 355 F1 and a S2K playing on the track, and I was surpised to see that the 355 was just bearly pulling away from the stook on the straights, and after a section of sharp corners the stook was back on the 355's tail. The only mod the S2k had was a HKS exhaust. The 355 had an Italian Stinger exhaust and sounded marvellous! The HKS exhaust of the stook sounded stock compared to the Ferrari

OH man! If the AC were off you might have a chance. Nice race...

Hmm, doesn't the A/C shut off at WOT?
I don't think I've ever driven a car where the A/C doesn't disengage as soon as you floor it...

I've driven my neighbor's 348, and its acceleration felt pretty comparable to the S2K on my butt-o-meter. I thought the S2K felt better in every other aspect, but the Ferrari sure looks a lot more exotic!

one of my friends has a 1995 355 with 26k - I've ridden in it and it is much faster than the s2000, especially above 120 - the thing doesn't stop pulling until 150. But , not by much, maybe 1.3 seconds off 0-60(not bad for an $80k savings on the s2000).
Talk about a tempermental car though - can't use second gear until the engine is warm - about 3 minutes of running - can you imagine the posts people would make if honda had done that? Luckily, he is very interested in my s2000 so we are going to trade cars for a weekend coming up - If he likes it, he's going to buy one in red. I will post how it goes...as if it could go bad
