raced a modded 300zx tt
last night headed down to this Korean Restaurant called Mopo down Crenshaw, I happened to come across this modded 300zx tt. At first i didn't think he would take the bait and race me but eventually he did. We went from a ding till about the middle of third gear (didn't hit vtec
). He beat me by two car lengths but i was starting to catch up right before we shut down (I had a really bad launch
), after that i gave him a wave and he took the next right on Carson. Should he have beat me this badly? How fast are those things? Oh and has anyone else here raced one before (my first one). Peace.

I did once, he was able to catch up to me. I pulled at first, but he slowly caught up. Then again, I was all stock back then. Plus, that was before I learned how to drive my S better. Now I have some goodies and look forward for another run with one! If you launch at around 6K and have good tires, thats a good start. 300ZX TT are pretty quick. I say race another one again!
Specs I've found for a stock 300ZX TT are 0-60=5.5 seconds, 1/4 mile=13.9 @ 102mph. Pretty close to what a stock S will do. They are about 500lb heavier. Just like any other factory turbocharged car, mods make big hp. I believe an intake, exhaust and chip bring it up to about 375.

They are sort of a hit or miss - sort of like the mustang 5.0. A lot of them are slow because they are old cars and may not be running too well. One in decent condition with some easy power adders should prove to be a tough fight for a near-stock car.
