Ran With A Roush
This past week I had my first run with a Mustang. It had the Roush pkg. and the GT badges, which makes me believe it was a Stage 2. I had the top down and my girl in the car when the Roush came up along side me. We both began to slow for a stoplight when it turned green. I was not sure if he was going to race so I shifted to second going about 25. He hit it first and got ahead of me rather quickly. I think he may have put 1-1.5 car legths on me before I hit the sweet 6k
. I soon made up the ground and we were dead even to about 100 at which point I slowly began to put some ground between us. I shut down at about 110 with his front bumper at my rear tires. I also noticed that he was the only one in his car. My question is this, how much of a difference does the top being up or down make? That is, does the top down create alot of extra drag?

If I'm not mistaken, the Roush adds the side exhaust (I dont know if that adds any power) and an intake. I know that on these larger displacement engines, an intake can make a considerable amount of HP. Anyway, the car sure sounded good and it was loud enough to drown out any noise my car made.

I agree too!! Anytime you can beat a Mustang, or any V-8 "muscle car", it is a good kill!!
Last night on the way home from dinner/dancing w/my wife top down, a late 90's (99?) Mustang GT pulls up next to me at a red light and rev's his engine repeatedly. He had an exhaust, and it sounded sweet.
Wifey poo says "don't do it, you've had a couple of drinks, blah, blah, blah,...." I had 4 drinks in 3 hours and ate dinner/danced. I was not legally impaired......
Anyway, light turns green, and we both hit it. I just got a G-tech Pro, and did 2 runs a couple of days ago. My best of the 2 was a 14.4 @ 99.3 mph, which I was pleased with. Just need to work on the launch, still bogging a little.... anyway, I made my best launch ever-a 6K side step....... off the line I pulled 3/4's of a car immediately, 1-2 shift I had 2 cars, 2-3 3 cars + and pulling. I shut down at about 65-70 (50 mph zone). My wife says "where is he?" Ha, ha, ha, ha ,ha, ha ,ha !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At the next light I said to him "sorry, i thought that you had a V-8 Mustang!!! If looks could kill...........
My favorite kill to date!!!

Nice kill- running 99 mph will put you ahead of 99.99% of stock 99+ Mustang GT's on the street.
As for the Roush, it wasn't a stage 3 but who cares, you won.
You will know when you come across a stage 3 ( they trap 112 mph.)

99+ GTs run low to mid 14s stock...3-4 lengs at 70 is a little far fetched but possible!! Good run!
