I was coming home this evening with the windows down and the music blasting. It was in the mid 70's and relative low humidity for North Florida. I look into my passenger side mirror and see a white Supra rapidly approaching my front wheel area. I had just seen a State Trooper pull into a gas station just ahead so I'm taking it very easy. As he hits my front bumper he lets off and we both cruise past the gas station around 40 mph (speed limit here is 45 mph). I'm in third and drop to second and soon as I do he takes off. Well... as usual, it wasn't much of a challenge for the 03. He pulled nicely for a second until I gained back momentum and by the middle of third I was pulling pretty good and was ahead of him by the top of third. I shifted into fourth and seemed to jump about a car and a half... I realized that he had just let off. He changed into the far right line and came up again on my left. I said "Nice car" and his passenger just had some assanine smirk on his face. We went again... him jumping first, and the result was the same but only through third gear this time. The last time we ran I was approaching the rear of his doors... getting ready to even up when he punches it again. He pulled briefly and again I reeled him in and passed relatively easily. It was a TT Supra and it had an exhuast and what appeared to be a fairly large FMIC. I was definitely expecting a little more of a fight so I'm assuming he wasn't modded much beyond that.

 

what do you drive? i don't come in the street encounters forums a lot so i was just wondering.

good kill I HATE SUPRAS. I am so sick of hearing about how you can bolt on this, that, and anything else you want and get 800 horse power and keep it a daily driver. f-supras

I have seen the new cobra at a few auto-x's around here, they are a beast. I met a guy that did intake, header, exhaust and was putting 440 to the wheels, at least that is what he was claiming.

How does the cobra handle?

 

wow surprised they were being such jerks about it. a lot of the guys i hang with drive supras, and when they see an 03, they know what's up. good kill man.

 

It handles surprisingly well but at almost 3,700 lbs. There's only so much you can do before the laws of physics make themselves known. It is pretty well mannered once you learn the throttle... there's a fine line between hanging out the back end and 'oops, too much throttle'.

 

at first i thought you had a s2000, i was like whoa. the new cobras are sick....yet i'm still not a fan of american cars. of all the american cars, i'd choose a mustang.

too each his own i say on cars. i mean mustangs v8's .....supratt v6 twin turbo.

what does the cobra run stock?

 

12's stock no doubt about it... My buddy just dynoed his completly stock.. and almost got 400 HP TO THE WHEELS... quite impressive cars
