Default Ran a yellow s2k on Rt 287

Last night, my cousin and I were on our way to NYC and ran into a yellow s2k just of the exit from rt23 to 287. The driver in s2000 definately from the looks was 20+ in age. His top was down and slowly passed us at about 60 mph. I told my cousin to speed up and get next to s2k, which he did. We stayed next to each other for good 1-2 minutes hoping for him to notice us and make a move and he did by downshiftig to 2nd or 3rd ? and took off. He did get about 1 carlength jump on us before my cousin got on to it. We went all the way to 120 before he shut down. The results were quite surprising for me as I didn't expect our car to do so well on the top. By the time he shut down the front bumper of our car was almost by his front wheel (3/4 car gain mainly when the guy shifted). I gave a huge thumbs up to the guy, he noded and ended up taking up the exit for rt9. If the guy is on this forum, I just wanna give him My cousin's car is 100% bone stock 01 S4. He is thinking of getting a chip after last night's encounter I very impressed with s2k and s4's top end power. I thought it was very unusual for all awd to have such a good top end. My gsx fells kinda slugish over 110 Anyway awsome run

Is the S4 tip or 6-speed?

Nice race Speed of both cars are very similar..I think S2k is bit faster though. Haven't seen a Stock S4 do 13.66 yet

Interesting. I was able to put 3 car lengths on an S4 wagon from 20 to 90 (started one length back and ended one up) each car with one passenger. Granted my top was up, but I didn't realize there was a huge weight differential between the S4 sedan and wagon. Maybe the wagon was a Tip?

This makes a big difference as speed increases. Drag increases as a function of the square of airspeed...in other words drag increases really quickly. The S2000 has a much lower drag coefficient with the top up than when the top is down.

Like I said, I was surprised too.. I expected s2k to pull on the top since s4 had an extra passenger ( me ). But always remember that driver plays a big role too. Oh yeah the s4 is M6

btw, i like the s4's. i need a second car, especially since it's an AWD and has a bit more space. also, my doggie is not allowed in the S unless accompanied by her "mommy" (too much leather and so little space...damn claws!).
