Default redemption

well after returning from famosa raceway and running a best of 15.8 @ 94 mph (traction owns me) I was pissed. I go to hang out with my friends all mustang drivers and of course once they hear my time it starts, buy a mustang, mustang this, mustang that, blah blah blah. My slow time gave my friend the confindence to finally call me out. His car is a 1988 notchback mustang, for all non mustang people notch's dont have hatchbacks but rather trunks and I believe they weigh in around 3300 lbs and are the lightest body mustang ever. His car just recently got full exhaust, intake, built tranny and gears. My car has hks exhaust and a good 100 lbs weight reduction. Also I was running my stock 16 inch wheels
with shitty tires.

1st run 30mph roll: honk honk honk and were off, I instantly pull a 1/2 car, hit second and pull another 1/2 car, hit third and really start pulling but must shut down for a corner. I win by a solid 2 cars.

dig 1: I launch at 5000 rpms and bog as he launches perfect and pulls two cars on me up to top end of 2nd I shut down.

dig 2: I launch at 5800 rpms, he gets another good launch, this time I pull off the line to a 1 car lead, end of second I'm up 2 cars and end of 3rd I'm up 3-4 cars.

dig 3: same as dig 2 maybe a little worse for him

cliff notes: S runs shitty at the track but redeems itself by beating a shit talking mustang 3 out of 4 runs. Mustang boys were quiet the rest of the night.

good runs and nice kills
you gotta get some good tires though, you should easily hit low 14's and possibly crack into the 13's bro!

yes a 15.8, I actually ran faster my first time at the track when the car was stock and had a stereo sytem in the trunk but even that was only a 14.9. I guess I need the driver mod.

a racing clutch may help your launches. theyre a lot shorter and stiffer (i have an Omnipower and love it) the engage point is much shorter so theres not much lag between shifts and off of the line, you just hold it at the engage point, rev it, and let it go.

thanks, yeah I'm starting to think my stock clutch has just about had it. Its got 85000 miles on it but I'm trying to make it last till next year when I go turbo and really need to upgrade.

yea once you go turbo the stock clutch has gotta go whether its in good shape or not bc it wont be able to hold the power. i have a lot of friends with turbocharged cars and the stock clutch starts to slip within a few weeks.
if you want it to last, stop dropping it off of the line!! tell people you only want to go from a roll...and thatll pretty much take out driver error too.

yeah my closest race to date with one was my buddy's stock 96 corba, from a dig we were neck and neck to the top end of third.
