The Rematch: S2000 Vs. Boxter S
Temperature: Cold
Distance: approximately 1/4 mile
Drivers: Both competent and not afraid to push it
As luck would have it, I ran into the same dude in the bright yellow BoxterS again as I was coming home last night. Oddly enough, he recognized me too from the road and pulled into the gas station I was at. We started talking again and asked me if I had done anything to my car since the last time we had raced. (Last time we ran twice, me putting between 1/2 length to 3/4th of a length and once pulled nearly even) He had done nothing to his car, so it was still in beautiful stock form. (I really do love the BoxterS)
So I told him I had replaced my dinky HAI with the Injen CAI and had installed the V-AFC. He looked at my CAI and asked me, "How the hell did you fit that piping in there buddy?"
Anyway, we were both curious to see how our cars would match up again now with my new mods.
1st race: I spun my tires badly and took forever to gain traction, he jumped on me bigtime and he put some distance on me and then I pulled even towards the end of the race ... he had about a 1/4 length on me at the end, it was amazing and my VTEC surge almost made up for the horrible start.
2nd race: Perfect high-rpm launch from 7.5k rpms as I left 2 streaks of rubber on the street ... I looked over and saw that he had also pulled off a great launch as well, however I exploded off the line like my ass was on fire and I necked away to a full car length advantage through VTEC ... by far the most decisive win I've had against this BoxterS. He couldn't pull on me at all and we both were surprised at the difference the Injen intake and the V-AFC made.
All in all, a great night of random street racing with a cool guy.

The lighter, "surgically enhanced" plastic nose of the Boxster driver would probably even out his shoe deficit... I heard all european performance car drivers need one of those to adapt to the snooty attitude...
(just busting of course)...

However, I'm coming down tomorrow to SoCal to pick up my YZF-R6 ... maybe if I'm lucky I'll run into this guy again when I'm on my bike.

We usually dress for the occasion.
Psicho54...that was a great description. It reads very realistic. Sounds like u were just honest with the perfomance of your car. Now, when am I going to get an encounter with the "S2000 rivals" (Boxter, Z3, etc.)???
