Default Research project

So, I'm writing a research paper about underground racing / car clubs, and I've been slacking off on it, so I turned one place I know I could get help.... You guys.

I need to know a little bit of background about you, and how you got started into street racing/car clubs (S2KI or other local clubs).

Information that would be helpful:
Age:
Local Car club (Type, possibly name?) and/or street racing?
Age started:
What drew you into it?
What do you do for a living?
and a little background information about your childhood/growing up.

I'm trying to write my paper to show that all people belonging to car groups, and those who street race, aren't like the movies depict (IE: Unloved by daddy, stole cars for money, you know what I'm talking about).

Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

(Hope I can get some responses tonight, cause I have to turn in 900 words minimum by noon tomorrow. I hate college, and it's ridiculous classes)

You can respond either to this post, By e-mail (CLIP_Bheef@hotmail.com), or by AIM (Jaeden09). Thank you once again.

I'll bite to get the ball rolling

Age: 25

Local Car club (Type, possibly name?) and/or street racing? Independent

Age started: 23

What drew you into it? Just the rush. Every time I stop at a light or follow another car that might want to race the adrenaline starts pumping. Although you rarely every talk to the other person your racing, a dialog is set and stories are written before, during, and after every race. I especially enjoy the encounters where your race someone who actually thinks there going to beat you. Just thinking of what goes through their head after they lose is enough to relieve any stress or crap I might be going through.

What do you do for a living? Software Configuration Management.

and a little background information about your childhood/growing up. Grew up in a typical asian family. Mom/dad/bro. Went to high school and drove a corolla which stayed stock and never raced. Went to college and graduated with a comp sci degree. Always loved fast cars but never really got into it until I knew I could afford it comfortably.

Local Car club (Type, possibly name?) I Roll Solo

What drew you into it? The feeling of a car you put together with your own money, something that your busted knuckles for and put your time, money and passion into watching it outperform others, for women getting there attention and showing them how wild you can be. For the rush the undescribable feeling that 160sec race takes you on.

What do you do for a living? Student

A little background information about your childhood/growing up: I've always loved cars crusin, going to meets and talkin to other ppl out there on the street about there cars it's a lifestyle more than an illegal activity. To me since I don't do any sort of drugs, it's my Drug.

What drew you into it? The thrill and excitement. Being an ex athlete in high school nothing gives me the adrenaline rush like pulling up next to another car that is going to race. And I never had a fast car growing up until I bought my S. It's just so fun hitting V-Tec

What do you do for a living? Special Education Teacher

and a little background information about your childhood/growing up.
Grew up in a typical two parent household. My dad was a sales rep for a company that distributes mobile home parts. My mom stayed home with us. I have two brothers and a sister. Everything was pretty normal.

You guys rock.

This is for my Com-111 class for college. We're studying a "Sub-culture" the entire semester, so I picked car enthusiast/car clubs/street racing. Our purpose is to show that the group we chose should be studied, and I chose us because I wanted to prove that people like us, are nothing like how we're portrayed in the movies, and to help people understand why we do it.

Thanks once again, and keep posting, the larger my subject group, the better.
