RSTi vs. Carrera
Sorry i know this run doesn't involve an s2000, but subaru forums don't have a section for something like this, and I'm curious about the outcome
i have a 2000 Subaru gc coupe with 2005 STi engine and transmission. the engine is "stage 2 protuned" - catted turbo back exhaust, cold air intake, boost control solenoid, fuel pump and dyno tune...made about 285whp/320wtq on a dyno that spits out 220whp for stock STis
the GC coupe curb weight is about 2800 lbs...with the swap there's about maybe 70 lbs extra weight
i had a 100 lbs passenger and a trunk full of groceries...but i doubt any of that made much difference
ran across a 997 Carrera S not sure what year...sounded bone stock with 2 older gentlemen. started from about 35mph with me in 2nd gear, up to about 95mph he put about 3/4 car btwn me and him
i wasn't shifting particularly fast, but i wasn't pulling on him in gear. he has way longer gears so i had to shift more which lost me some ground
i'm sure post 100mph the difference would be more pronounced in his favor...
sound about right? my car even though quite a bit lighter than the GD or current generation STi on a roll i don't think the difference is much...
how much does a stock 997 CS usually trap in the 1/4?

they trap about 110mph, if i shifted faster i'd probably trap around there too, i guess the outcome was expected
i actually found a supposedly stock CS on dragtimes that trapped 112mph...

that dyno reads a bit lower than typical dynojets
now that i thought more about the run he gained the most ground during my 3rd to 4th shift....gotta shift faster next time when im running a worthy opponent

On dynojets stock STIs put down anywhere from 225-240whp stock. On a dyno dynamics or mustang it is closer to 200whp. Dyno Dynamics- the ego buster. My friends 300z dynoed at 285whp on a dyno dynamic dyno, and a week later it pulled 345 on a dynojet.

Sounds right. Scooby's are awesome low end cars, while 911's are awesome top end cars. You got him where your weight and torque kept you very close. Go from a 60+ roll and it would've been ugly..

yeah my old evo IX had trouble accelerating at the same rate over 110mph vs. under 110mph
however for this run even when i was well into 4th gear (approaching 95mph) he still wasn't pulling me in gear...it was my slow 3rd to 4th shift that gave him some ground
but i have no doubt once i pass 100mph (5th gear) he'll walk me hard lol
