Today I ran into an eclipse on the way home, and I heard him having alot of fun and self satisfaction on the fact that he has a BOV by reving the engine about 20 times at a light, while he was next to me. I was annoyed, so I looked at him, and gave him the "I could care less look" and proceeded to rev to about 8000 RPM's We were both ready for the launch. I have to admit, I was a little nervous, because if he has a BOV, he must have turbo upgrades. I was wrong, I launched flawlessly, and pulled away in every gear by about 2 car lenghths. He proceeds to catch up and give me the thumbs up. I just looked away, disgruntled about the fact that I wasted my gas on this thing. He is the opposite of a sleeper, he wants to look and sound fast, and then comes out with that kind of race. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhH

Ahh nope. Stock BOV on most of the Mitsu cars leak at higher RPMS. This is a BPU mod that is done just to keep higher b00st at higher RPMS. It doesn't do much more than that. Also, it's to make the stock (or possibly upgraded) turbo more pronounced. It also serves to make other people very scared (ohhh turbo) or to get attention. As you described, it didn't make a difference

Upgraded turbos = Need to look in the engine bay

That's because I am, and I am proud of it, BTW this BOV was definatly not stock, it was way too loud. And he was not revving to the top rpms.

Take it from an HRC stage 2 owner, just cause you hear the BOV doesn't mean we are always looking for a race.. I always get people wanting to race cause they see gauges and here when I shift, in a turbo car that's normal. Perhaps in this case it was an aftermarket one and he did want to race but becareful when you come up to a highly modified Eclipse your ego might get hurt and you might be the one getting the discusted look and no thumbs up...
