Default Run in with RX7 (3rd gen)

I don't know if any of you have seen the RX7 here in sac that is baby blue with all the exterior fixings, but I had a run in with him yesterday. We each had a passenger and here's how it happened. I pull up to the light and a mid 90's civic pulls up next to us, and starts revving madly, so naturally, I gave him a little rev back. Then I notice a large whine from behind me, and I see the Blue 7. I launched flawlessly, and had 2 cars on the civic by the end of the intersection. The 7 was on me though. He was pulling lightly up to about 100. We then get to the next light and it's on. To kill some time he decides to scare the crap out of me by beeping a horn that sounds just like the five 0 siren. He then proceeds to laugh as I look around.

Then the light hit green, he bogged a little, and I got a jump on him by 3/4 car length. I had perfect shifts, he had another bad shift, but was now 1/2 car behind. Then we hit 100 and he got even with me, then WAHHHHHHHHH I here his exhaust, this fool is running a straight pipe! BTW we live in Cali where this is highly illegal, and po-po's are all over this. It was the single loudest exhaust I've ever heard. Up to about 125 we raced, and he had about a car and a half.

It was a good race for me as the RX7 was my dream car for about 5 years. I hope to have a run in with him when I get my turbo Keep safe, and please only race when the circumstances present themselves around no traffic. Keep it safe.

Well, you must be a very good driver and he must have made a couple mistakes.
Not doubting you, good kill.

I did not hear his turbo spooling up very loud, he could be running a boost controller with it turned down to minimum boost. I know for a fact that the car is salvaged. I do not know what exact motor he is running. Aguban, I am a good driver, and this guy that I was racing was definitely not.

If I remember, the 7 gets around 13.5 stock, and we get around 13.7 to 13.8. Which given driver skill is very achievable. It also could be that there was a weight advantage for me, the two people in the other car might have been a little on the porky side. Me and my friend do not weigh that much.

I would hate to think a guy would add paint and a bodykit to his car and still get beat by a stock S2000 (read: NO MODS).

I beleive that is the case, except for the straight pipe. I did not even hear a loud intake charge.
