S2000 and 911
Cruising on the road I Saw a 911 in front, I had never raced with a 911 so i wanted to see how fast it was . I followed it till a Red Light.. And there it was right next to me.. I looked at the driver, He seemed upto the challenge and all this time i was thinking ..no chance for me Trying to run with this car but I was just curious to see .
Light turned green, A good launch helped me , I was atleast a car length ahead of him when i launched and to my surprise i kept the lead all the way till 190 Kms and i mean atleast 3 car lenghts then I had to slow down cuz there was a curve (not sharp or anything) I just wanted to be careful so i took my foot off the gas. I didnt see him slow down, that helped him gain distance over me, It was straight road again so i gunned it all the way till 240 Kms, this time I could not pull on him but the distance remained the same. I was 1 car lenght behind, To me it seemed like he was pulling really slow on me. I had perfect shifts till i reached the curve.
Im still confused about which 911 it could have been.
It was not a latest 911 but definetly not that old either, Maybe from 1995 to 1998. I searched its specs and pics just to see what model it was. From what i gathered from the internet, it seemed to me that it was a 1995 911 or even a 96 . Im not sure.
What model could it be? Porsche introduced a Twin Turbo 402 BHP in 1996 (911 turbo) So i highly doubt it could have been a 911 turbo.
It had a 911 logo in the rear not a turbo.
Any help?

It was probably a 993 Carrera. That was the previous generation (93-97, maybe?) before the current one. I don't know what a "good" driver could get in one of those, but I saw one pull a 14.2 at the 1/4 mile strip. That's comparable to what a well driven S2000 would pull.
If it was a Tiptronic, you'd have even better odds.
If it was a 996 Carrera (current generation), you wouldn't have had a chance.

I have beat S2000's convincingly on the straight (2001 911). The older 993 generation 911's had 282 hp and does mid-igh 13's. If it is a tiptronic 911, that is believable as despite claims of .2 sec difference 0-60 & 1/4 mi. it is closer to .5 sec+ with a good driver. Most Porsche driver will not beat on their vehicles to redline, so you may have gone up against one of these drivers.
Did it have the vents cut into the side, just past the doors on the quarter panel? That indicates if it is a turbo or not. Vent = turbo. No vent = NA.
...and like other have noted, a 911 is more than we should be able to handle. Ofcourse for triple the price tag...........it better.

In terms of power the 993 C2 and S2000 stack up nicely against one another, at least in my experience on the track with them.
As someone mentioned above, the C4 varients weigh more and are slower as are the tiptronic versions.
I dont remember seeing any vents , i was really concentrating on the road and tac also keeping his car view in my side mirrors
Im not sure if it was a tiptronic either.
But as mentioned above.. im preety sure it was not a turbo, 993 perhaps suits the whole thing.
