Default S2000 Vs 2 Harley's

Went for a ride to the Beachside tonight and as you know it's bike week in Daytona. I was just riding around taking in all the sites and who should pull up to me at a traffic light put 2 guys on Harleys, they where very outspoken individuals and proceeded to talk about my car, nothing nice I might add. They spoke very loudly about why you should only buy American and just because it looks fast dosen't mean it is...All this talk was done just an ear shot away from me in order to provoke a response well it did and when the light turned I took off and easly beat both bikes.....They knew they were beat and turned off before the next light....As I drove home tonight my thoughts were about the bikers...Maybe they had to much to drink....I'm sure I was in the wrong to race them, something could have happened ,they could have wrecked, or another could have turned in my path....Needless to say the only damage was to their egos.....This is a very dangerous week in Daytona and I don't want to contribute to it....Please be carefull if your over this way and don't be lured into shallow talk like I was............

It's sad that some guys are like those guys ( stupid i must say ) Why should you always buy American ? If you don't like Any car America made ( They produces very good cars but if you don't like it's a matter of choice ) you can buy japenese or english or even german car, no ? In a liberal contry as America ( or Canada ) You should be able to buy anything you may want to buy without hearing any comments like these !!
You're right about the race, there was nothing to win to race them ,but what you could have done is to close the top and raise the volume of your sound system and let them drown.........with their pride !!! hahaha

"they could have wrecked"
I wouldn't worry about this part. All Harley riders have a pickup or a van follow them wherever they go. You know, to pick up all the pieces that fall off them or to carry all the spare parts that they need to keep them running.

Here is a Harley kill story I posted on usenet a few years back. Yes, I was very young when I posted this! Just thought I would share...

>Well, I got another race with a harley today.

It was getting near dinner time and I decided to head home to get some food. I
wasn't on my CBR tonight, I was out getting excercise on my 10speed.
As I was approaching an intersection, (I was on the sidewalk)
I looked over and there it was, a 97 Harley Fat
a$$....err Fat tail or whatever. He was sittin back with his feet on his
lazy boy recliner feet rest, hair swept back, scar on his cheek, and yellow
stains on his teeth. Yep, a REAL harley rider, not a lawyer out for a
cruise. This guy probably just got out of jail and mugged the Dr. who owned
the bike.

Anywayz, we came up to a redlight. I pull up next to him on my
bike and put my foot down. I hope he saw me over there actin tough by
dumping my water bottle over my head and spinnin my pedals in neutral. It
was either that or the skin tight bike shots... regardless, he got the
message. It was on.... The tension mounted as the don't walk sign began to
flash, indicating that, yes, oh yes, withing a few short seconds a green
light would come. When the opposite light turned yellow, the loser
cheated a little and took off before the light was green. It was
understandable, considering that I have 10 gears on my bike and he is lucky
if two are working at any given time.

Anyways, I knew I had my work cut out for me so when
the walk sign lit up, I took off. First gear is REALLY low and I was a
little excited and popped a wheelie... DMAN, losing ground. I popped it
into second and pedalled as HARD as I could. Huffing and puffing, 3rd came
and went, then 4th and I was almost upon him. Once I hit fith, we were neck
and neck but there was no stopping the schwinn... yep, I looked over and he
was in a race tuck, which looks REALLY friggin goofy on a harly. I eased
by, ringing my handle bar bell as I passed. And continued to pull on him
until he reached his top speed and looked like he gave up. this had to be
ATLEAST a 2 minute race and after a total full throttle two mintues of
racing, we probably got to atleast 40-45 mph.... keep in mind this was in a 35 zone
so we were flirting with extreme danger, not only getting caught for
speeding, but I could see his frame wasn't straight because he was wobbling
like a weeble wobble.

He pulled off at the next exit and I could hear his paint mixing engine "potato potato" away.
Yep, I went home with another win over a harley today.... tomarrow I'm going to look for one with
my sister's bouncy ball, you know, the big ball with the handle that you
sit on and bounce to move...

And to think I could have saved $32k and purchased a modded out 10 speed and accomplished the same feat.....

FastrackS2000 - I would not be loosing much sleep over this!!!

As an avid motorcyclist ('85 Nighthawk 650, 49,000 miles) I pulled into a gas station one day a few years ago, there was a Harley rider in front of me getting gas. I got off my bike, flipped up the visor on my full face and looked at this guy wearing something like a baseball cap helmet. He looked at me and you just knew something really intelligent was going to come out of his mouth. So he points to his AMA sticker on the back of the Harley and says "aye, yu no what dat means?" "Out'a my way asshole!"
Now I'm just a thin small guy, but I was always taught to speak my mind. So I look right at him and said "Really?" "I thought 'Out of' started with an O not an A." I just smiled, got on my bike, pushed the electric start and was out of there. I still get a laugh out of this when I think about it. I must have been breathing too many gas fumes that moment, he looked like he could and would have killed me.

So FastrackS2000 I'll give you the thumbs up.

I used to get a lot of crap on my Ninja from the lawyer/doctor Harley crowd here in S. Orange County. My standard response to them was "I can have a Harley any time I want. I simply kill the engine, get off an push!" That usually shut the smug bastards up!

When I was a M/C instructor I taught many of the biker's "mamas". The bikers would bring them en masse, drop them off and come back when the lesson was over. Some of them even stayed to watch. In this circumstance, they can be very nice, normal people. Sometimes just not when they are in their "HOG" mentality. In fact, we even brought one of those fellas in as an instructor. Turned out out to be a very competent instructor and likeable person. He used to give us jabs all the time about our "sewing machines" and we'd jab back about his oil leaks and parts that keep falling off.
