The S2000 vs. a 911
Finally had a chance to compare the S to a 911. My friend has a 1999 Tiptronic 911 Carrera Cabriolet; the engine is 300 hp at 6,800 rpm and maximum torque of 258 lb-ft at 4,600 rpm; he is a shoe and has driven the Riley&Scott Ford WSC SR GrandAm race cars. He's the same age and weight as I am.
Well, as we can all guess, off the line the Carrera gets the jump but only by about one car length. My front fender to the back of the drivers' door and then we stay even.
But on an even start in second gear at 60mph; we took it to 4th gear almost out to the limit somewhere around 120 (I really wasn't looking at the speedo, just traffic on I-95); AND WE STAYED TOTALLY EVEN. It even surprised my friend who had driven both the Porsche 911 (993) in the 24hrs of Daytona in '96 (Started 68th finished 28th) and the Riley and Scott in '99 (clutch failed 12 hours in).

I'm not too suprised. Tiptronic makes the car about 1 sec slower to 0-60 than the manual one. Tiptronic transmission also weighs a hell of a lot heavier. Also, the car weighs much more than the S2K.
Has anyone here raced a Boxster S or M-Roadster with manual transmission? How did that go?

You didn't do you research in enough detail. Did you know that a 911 Tip weighs over 3000lbs? Did you know if he raced a 911 Carrera 4 it weighs about 3200lbs? That makes a big (hundreds of lbs) difference in performance. I'm not trying to start a conflict here, but these are the stats that I found on a 911 Tip.

Just curious, how do you think a Supercharged S2000 versus a Boxster (Not S) Supercharged will fair? I know that the S2000 makes more HP with the SC versus the Boxster SC, but the Boxster I think makes a lot of torque 210lbs that is.
