Just curious to opinions on what would hapen if these cars were to race. I've heard really good things about the transmission on the audi.

S, no question. The 3.2 is quicker than the 225 1.8T but it's still not what it should be. Too heavy, not enough sport. Nice car to cruise in w/ some passing speed, but nothing to write home about. BTW, the SMG is amazingly badass.

Well, my wife just bought one...so we'll find out the difference soon enough! It really is a nice ride...especially with the DSG (direct shift gearbox). The paddle shift echo's Ferrari, too bad the performance doesn't. Oh well, I'll keep ya posted.

Test drove on in MAG,

Pros:
#engine note of 3.2L VR6 and exhaust tone.
#DSG transmission.
#fit and finish

Cons:
#heavy
#understeer
#sheity tires that comes with the car
#VW/Audi reliability
#expensive

Dual clutch system of DSG was wonderful to play with. At any RPM, next gear was ready to serve you.

I tested to see how fast I could switch gears with DSG and perhaps to see any draw backs or flaws, I couldn't find any. It worked flawlessly.

HOWEVER!

Any sports car purest would want manual gear box instead of derivative of automatic shifters such as DSG.

Carrera GT comes with manual gear box.
S2000 comes with manual gear box.

TT, originally released was not available in automatics. But that changed in 03 models and beyond.

Wonderful car, packed with high tech stuffs, but I just didn't feel the connection that any proper sports car should make with its driver.

I guess the Ferrari Enzo isn't a sports car purist's car? Or the M3 with SMG?

A true sports car purist should also be able to embrace new technologies that will make his car perform better.

They are very close...We did one run from a 20mph roll. The TT jumped to about 1/2 car lead, and the S reeled back to even at around 100mph. We shut down at that point. I would speculate that the S would continue to pull from that point on.
I would like to point out that I was in the TT, and my brother was in his S. I used the paddle shift DSG, and I felt very connected to the car. The shifts were beyond smooth, and quicker than anyone could do manually. I did miss revving out to 9k, however, the next best thing is hearing 9k right outside the window.
I'm sure I'll have more stories as we have more situations to try.

I see no reason why the TT wouldn't win in a dead on straight race. Even on a roll, the TT should have the upper hand. Remember, this is as long as the road remains straight.

Just test driving 250hp TT today...it's not that fast as I expected. I felt car is quite heavy when I shifted to next gear......I also test drive the Automatic one with F1 type shift on steering wheel. This is more fun to drive than manual....
