Default S2000 V's Bmw 850

I was heading out to Fitness First this morning and pulled up next to a bmw 850 at a set of traffic lights at first i thought nothing of him then i realised what it was . I was not really in the mood for racing or even trying to prove my self but then a removal truck pulled up behind the bmw and one of the guys said to his friend in the cabin "this should be fun!", i thought what the hell, at least i will try.
The lights went green and i punched it (from idle) i instantly pulled away then i was just changing in to 2nd and i see him pulling up beside me, i shift in to third perfectly and pull ahead again.
the race is over, we had to shut down as the two lanes merged in to one and there was heavy traffic. SDince i was slightly ahead i pull in to the space and slow to traffic pace (29 mph).

when i got home this evening, im pretty sure he was not trying after seeing the stats on one of those things!

BMW 850CSi
Engine V12, 5579cc
Cylinders/Valves 12/24
Gearbox 6 speed manual
Max power 380hp/5300 rpm
Max torque 405ib ft/4000 rpm
Top speed 250km/h (Electronic limit)
0-100km/h 6.0s

if we had raced properly , no one around who would have the better hand ??

5.4-5.8 0-60 is pretty common for the S, so it would seem that it is faster. One other thing too is that I'm sure the 6.0 0-60 is for the manual transmission version, which represents 5% of all 850's sold.

Are you sure it was an 850CSi? Because the 850i, 850Ci, and 840Ci are farely commonplace, but the CSi is very rare. And there's a huge difference between them. A CSi would likely take an S on the low end, and definitely blow it away up top.

My friend's was an 850 CSI, I'm very sure of it.

I believe all 850's had V12, but the CSI had more displacement and power. Regardless, it's not a HUGE difference between them.

The 850 Csi isn't that fast off the line, in fact it's not that fast period. They are very heavy luxury cruisers. Beautiful cars and I would have one if I could find a low mileage 6 speed for less than a ransom. They still bring quite a bit of money regardless of condition.

Nice win. You really do not see many 850's these days. At least here in DC.. Cool cars but very heavy! Nice run...

I don't really like the 850 because it looks very out-dated now. I see a couple of them almost on a weekly basis, a white and red. They kinda look nice, but very out-dated.

Eh, first off I was talking to Rob. He said he raced an "850," but then put numbers down for a CSi. I'm sure your friend owned one...well, not THAT sure because I don't how anyone who's been around a CSi could say there isn't a HUGE difference between them and the normal 850s. That's pretty much like saying there's not a huge difference between a 330Ci and an M3, which of course, is not true in the slightest.

frankly... csi... ci... i... it doesn't matter...

...b/c they are all UGLY ASS CARS!!

Sorry to be blunt and opinionated ...but I am a huge fan of BMW... and out of all that they have to offer... the 850 lacks all conceptual intrigue.
