Yes, if you drive your car well, race him.

It would be correct to ask if he has a chance.. and assuming you can drive moderately well, the answer to that would be "NO!"

If you're going from a roll, just make sure you only agree to start at speeds where you're already in VTEC.. ~45mph + (2nd), ~60mph + (3rd), ~75 mph+ (4th)

prolly get moved to street encounters.

lets do a quick comparo (numbers from edmunds.com):

2008 GTi

Weight - 3162lbs
HP - 200 @ 5100rpm
Torque - 207ft/lbs @ 1800rpm
0-60 - about 6.7 seconds

2002 S2000

Weight - 2809lbs
HP - 240 @ 8300rpm
Torque - 153 ft/lbs @ 7500rpm
0-60 - about 6.1 seconds

From a strictly magazine racer POV, you should win. And that is assuming teh 0-60 time for the S2000 (which looks a bit...slow) is correct.

im sure you can take him. vtec is what helps you most and the fact that you can stay in gear longer. our power to weight ratio is so much better and i dont think vw stock turbo is all that.

No chance, my buddy has a gti and it doesnt keep up with my s2000 at all. It is a steady walk away from him.

This is REALLY important. Make the runs when ur in VTEC! As long as you don't miss a shift and don't granny shift, you should take him. Keep the top up and close the windows for better aerodynamics

Should you race him? On the street, hell no. On a track, hell yes.

You should be able to take him as long as his car is bone stock. If not, you could be in trouble. It's not hard to make the GTI quicker.
