Default S2000 vs Integra

I pulled up on an integra at a light and he started reving, so I figured I'd give it a go. I reved back a little, then waited for the light. He launches hard and I take it easy off the line, not terribly worried about a quick start (as I know how this race is going to play out). We stay even at first, I look over to give a quick smile right before I hit vtec and start to walk away. I bump the rev limiter at the top of 1st and going into 2nd I got a horrible grind. If I could have taken out a couple people on the sidewalk it would certainly go down as the worst driving ever. It still wasn't a close race, but much closer than it should have been. Props to the teggy driver, it wasn't for the 100hp advantage I had on him he would have killed me.

At least you didnt LOSE to him like me. The first real race I ever got into with my car was with a ricer 'tegra. To make a long story short I bogged BIG TIME and couldnt catch up. My friend still throws that at me when he talks about my crappy skillz. I would definetly win now though.

while it's embarassing to "grind" it's even worse to shift from 3rd to 2nd at redline.. (and can be hard on your engine).. I've only done it once, and that was in my 03 Cobra.. I've NEVER heard the supercharger whine that loud.. I don't have a clue as to how many rpm it was spinning, but the 8000 rpm tach was completely buried..

didn't hurt anything, (that was about 6K miles ago) the only reason I can guess why is the bullet proof nature Ford built into the engine..

Same exact thing happened to me when i raced a porsche boxster with a license play 1G Turn! i was going on a turn at about 88 (on crenshaw between lomita and pch) and i look at the tach and i realized i was at redline, then when i tried to shift it into 4th, it accidentally slipped in 2nd. omg...i was so scared for my car. hopefully it didnt hurt my car too bad...

When you guys say "grind" are you referring to the inherent grinding problem that the S2000 has when shifting from 1st into 2nd, or a mistake on your part?
