S2000 VS MR2 TURBO?
My friend has recently purchased a 1994 MR2 TURBO.
I have a 1999 S2000(Japanese Import),
I have already added a K&N Typhoon Induction Kit and
A CAT-BACK Blitz Exhaust
I have changed or anything else!
Anyway, he is convinced that his Stock MR2 TURBO(1994,Imported)
will beat mine in a drag? He is collecting his car during the week.
Does anybody honestly think he will beat me? I thought i would definately beat him in 0-60? But i'm not that sure so thats why i have asked everyone!
Please tell me so as i can hopefully stop his gloating!!

The MR2 turbo was fast when it came out. I think the 0-60 is in the low 6s. 1/4 mile is probably in the mid to high 14s. I don't know anything about the imported version. The S2000 should have no problem. I would be more worried that he's running with mods but claims he's stock. A chip alone will probably bring him under 6 seconds.
If I'm correct, a imported mr2 turbo is rated at 240hp( or more) at the crank. The US version is only 200hp at the crank. If it was a US version and being stock, I wouldn't worry at all. But if it's the Japan version, I'm gonna say maybe it's a drivers race or maybe the mr2 might have the upper hand.

If you don't know how to get the best launch out of your car, you might be toast depending on length of the race. Mr2 turbos are not generally "chipped" but a $50 boost controller can boost it to 250 hp with WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY more torque than you have. It also has the same weight but most of it over the drive wheels so wheelspin is not much of a concern for him at launch.
I have said it a hundred times. I miss my MR2 turbo............

Well all i can say now is that i will let you know!
I have heard though that the imported S2k's are 270 BHP???
Is this true? And then since i have added K&N Airflow and Blitz exhaust shouldn't i have near 285BHP?

wws2000: Your JDM S2000 is closer to 250bhp than 270bhp, where it differs from euro/aus/us-spec s2k's is that it is significantly lighter (esp. compared to us version) and has more torque available throughout the rev range (217nm compared to 208nm).
If your friends Mr2 Turbo is also a Japanese import, it will be a drivers race through the 1/4 mile, but if you do race past that you should pull on him quite handily. You're going to need a great launch though, the Mr2 is much easier to launch than the s2k is.
The Japanese-spec Mr2 (of which there are quite a lot running around in Australia) has around 172kw or 235bhp, but a lot more torque than the s2k.
I think 1994 mkII version of the Mr2 Turbo (j-spec) is the more powerful one, the years before that MkI versions were around 200bhp, even in Japan...someone correct me if I'm wrong.
