Default S2000 vs New Nissan Altima

Some idiot was trying to tell me once that the new nissan altima would "toast" our S2000's. Just for information purposes, these are the figures from this month's Sport Compact Car on the new altima. 0-60 in 6.5 seconds. 1/4 mile 14.5 @ 95.5. Those are the numbers I believe were posted. Not exactly a "close" match for our S2000's.

Well, the new Altima is fast enough that if you don't know what you are doing, you WILL lose to one.

I'd say that the new Altima is about on par in acceleration with the previous generation Mustang GT. That is to say, a properly driven S2000 will destroy it.

But...

If you don't know how to drive, don't mess with it. There's a video on altimas.net of a stock Altima beating a stock S2000 in Dallas a couple of months ago. It has received huge, and I mean HUGE attention from everywhere. Big embarassement for the S2000 community. It's got the Altima boys thinking that they can hang with us, even that they are superior in acceleration. So, no wonder that guys was saying what he was saying.

So, somebody, please... Kill an altima and get it on video. Just to settle this thing once and for all...

No, don't. Think of the money making opportunity. I'm still waiting for a stock Altima owner to hit me up. Do a little friendly bet, pedal it at the end to make him think he can win, and then race him again for more money.

Unfortunately, the only Altima that has tried to go was a 2.5 vs. my CRX - guess he didn't see the boost gauge :-)
