Default S2000 VS Older generation Vette

I was on my way home but decided to detour towards Car Fever Avenue.

So i was cruising then come to a stop light. But in front of me there is this older generation green corvette with the squarish lights. I believe the last year of productions was 1996 if im correct.

so light turns green and the lane i was on was really slow so I switched to the right lane and just kept on my way as I did want anything with the vette, I didnt wanna see tail lights, I wanted others to see mine though

But I saw that the vette is now following me close so I was like damn not now. so I just kept on my way and suddently the lane next to me clears so the vette is now next to me matching my speed about 40, but I slowed down to about 25 in first gear, and we go at it to about 100. and to my surprise the vette was almost a car behind me. but suddently as I slammed on my brakes he jumps me about 3 cars. There was a cop on the side of the road, The cops view was great, so I must have passed the cop at about 80 and the vette about 100 or so, to my surprise I did not see him pull out, must have been on a doughnut brake. so we pull to a red light and he lowers his window and he asks: "What you got done to your car"? so Im like" Just a shift light. and they look at each other with a little smirk like saying BS, so im like hey whatever, so im like you guys want to go on the service road, and they agreed so we are now rolling slow on the service road and I kept watch on the rear view mirror and for sure there was a cop following far behind so I told them cops cops but too late. I dont know how but he got pulled over and I didnt. While the vette was getting pulled over I slowly switched into the outer lane and was GOOONE!.

As I understand depending on engine configuration these older generation vettes put out between 300 - 330 HP, correct me if wrong
otherwise the shift light helped gain some power

However, having the shift light blind you for a second is much safer than having to look down at the faint flashing tach light; now I can always keep my eyes on the road. And besides I dont like to always redline my engine, I got an adjustable tach light.

I did not know this. At what RPM does the tach start to flash?? I think the highest RPM I have reached so far is around 7.5-8k.

Must have been a sick C4 Vette. If it's really a '96, then the automatic's came with 300hp and the manual tranny car's only came with the LT4 which is 330hp (very conservative number, more like 340-345) Anyway, even an automatic C4 with 300hp should run mid to high 13 second times, which is quicker than 99% of stock S2000's. I'm not doubting your kill, but obviously the guy in the Vette couldn't drive or push his pedal all the way down.

From a dead stop or slow roll...(5 mph) I think the vette would have won but going from 25 mph. I think the s2000 would win. If it was an automatic when the guy slammed it it takes a few tenths of a second for the trans to kick down. The s2000 was already in first.
He won by one car length maybe 1.5 at 100 mph so maybe he was .2 to .3 seconds faster from 100 starting at 25 mph......This story actually all adds up. The vette lost his advantage by going from 25 mph....I would love to know what kind of 0 to 60 feet these type vettes are doing on a regular basis. I am sure it is .2 to .3 better then the s2000.
