hi guys
i just got my s2000 3 weeks ago and this kid in my town already wants to race me.
he has a turbo eclipse that a couple of years old.
what i want to know is would i be able to beat him with the S and how highly modified would he have to be to rip me a new one. he said he has already beat a new wrx.

A friend of mine has 97 turbo AWD eclipse, some mods and can run steadily at 13.5, I believe that his launch would leave a stock S2000, like mine, in the catch up mode for quite sometime but I'm sure at some point I could catch up.
I had a 96 GS-T with intake, blow-off valve and exhaust and it did low 14's. They're not very reliable, but they're fast. The stock t25 turbo lacks top end. If his has an upgraded turbo....good luck to ya.!!!!
A couple of weeks ago, I ran a 2nd Gen Eclipse GSX at the track. I'm not sure what else he's done to this engine, but he did have a big intercooler in the front. Out of the hole, he put a few car lengths on me. I had to play catch-up...but my the time I was half way thru 3rd gear, I had already started to pass him. I ended up beating him. I ran a 14.3 to his 14.6 on the 1/4 mile.
Not sure if I still have the video, but I raced a guy with a 98 GSX with blow off, downpipe, intake, exhaust, headers, boost controller, intercooler. We went from a 45mph drop. He stayed near dead even with me at first, but by 100mph I had gained about 3/4 of a length.... pulling on him VERY slowly.

Last weekend I raced a '96 Turbo Eclipse three times. The kid had modified it by: (1) Intake (2) Exhaust (3) Blow-off valve (4) Removed rear seats (5) Lighter wheels.
Race 1: From a stop to about 95, I pulled on him the whole way. Ended up about 1-2 full lengths in front of him
Race 2: Started from 40 mph. Ended at about 115 mph (when I tapped my brakes). I was ahead of him the whole time and ended up about 3 lengths in front of him.
Race 3: Started from 40 mph. I screwed up by missing 3rd gear. He only got 1 length on me. I played catch-up. Fortunately, he never tapped his brakes (or gave up). I had to get behind him as we passed a car (that was in my lane). After that (about 115 mph) I pulled up and past him. He said he never gave up and was at about 130 when I tapped my brakes (from in front of him...I was doing 142)
