Default S2G vs. M3?

All I ever encounter are those damn M3's that always want to run on the freeway! I was wondering...if its a older model...can we beat those? I heard that its all driver when it comes down to an s2 vs an older M3 (97-98)

I KNOW we can't beat the new ones

Very close race. One of the closest races I ever had was a 98ish M3, from 30mph-110. Neither pulled a fender.

You should be able to pull easily on a stock E36 m3.

You will get your ass handed to you against a E46....

I personally witnessed both an M3 and a S2k at the 1/8rh mile dragstrip never
run better than a 9.3@76-77mph. Before I get flamed, realize that possibly the S2k runs a much better 1/4 than it runs an 1/8th, due to getting into the powerband differently. Both cars were bone stock and the drivers seemed to be doing everything right.

E46 M3's run like C5 vettes with a six speed.

I raced a older M3 from a roll on the freeway (I had a disadvantage in having my trunk full of clothing) whomever got the "hit" would win the race..

(this was in my 02 S2K)

Maybe in magical rice boy land. In reality the edge goes to the M3.

Stock E36, no problem.

Modded(chip, intake, exhaust) E36, almost a driver's race but it will start pulling very slowly from 4th gear.

I raced an e36 M/// on the highway on the way back from Showfest 2005 in greenville..He said it was a 95 model (looked alot newer not a chip in that red paint)...He had a full exhaust, some kind of ecu mod (too much wind noise couldnt understand him fully) and some other stuff I couldnt hear because of all the wind noise (top was down) When he 1st passed me going like 110mph, my cruise was set at 85...I downshifted and got on his rear bumper ...he downshifted and we took it up to about 130mph..The whole time I'm stuck to his rear bumper, having to feather the throttle to not rear end him (i have a passenger, trunk full of cloths, top down, and a cooler full of ice and beer in the back...guess who had the advantage)...I was satisfied with my result for a bit so i let him go back to crusing in the tripple didgets...but a minite later I decided to get a race with him side by side..and downshift to catch up...I'm in 3rd gear going about 70mph when i pull up...knowing that as soon as i'm even he will gun it...My intuition pays off and he gun's it as soon as we're bumper to bumper I proceed to make a steady pull and by the end of 4th gear I have him by 3 cars...I shift into 5th and put another 1 and 1/2 cars on him before shutting it down...As he drives by both him and his passenger give me the "cool wave" lifting of a few fingers..I return the favor and set my cruise back at 85mph. I guess the older ones are a little slower then the newer ones...Because with only a k&n fipk, and a lightweight flywheel I walked this guy pretty badly...he had more mod's then myself...and the car sounded awesome (high quality exhaust)...I have yet to run into a 98 or newer m3. Hope this helps you out a lil bit.

i never lost to the older M3's. S2 all the way. Got SMOKED by the new M3's though, time and again, only until the SC went on. Then they became old news.
