Default S2K vs 96 Z28 modded

I race my cousin last week with his camaro. My S is bone stock and he has intake, headers, exhaust, full ignition, throttlebody, lots of suspension work.

Off the line:
Run 1
I got a bad start, I burned too much rubber and he got a car jump on me and it was pretty even through 1st gear to 3rd gear. He was crawling ahead more and more but by the time we shut down he was about 1 1/4 car ahead.

Run 2
Perfect launch from me and I think this time he burnt a bit too much rubber and the roles were reversed. I jumped a car ahead 1st through 3rd and by the time we shut down he was 3/4 car behind me.

Run 3
Highway. I was at 6000rpm in 3rd and we both took off. Through the 3rd gear, I gained 1 car on him, but once I shifted into 4th he gained and passed me. Midway through 5th he had about 3 cars on me.

Off the line, it will go to who is the better driver, who launches the best. Both of us know how to drive so there was no excuse of one of us not driving properly.
I was surprised because I thought he would spank me before we started racing.

Good runs! Feels pretty good that you can hang with a modded Z28.

A 96 Z28 with those mods should spank a stock S2000.

Something is wrong with his car.

Maybe, but as far as we know it is running strong. I guess he needs to get on a dyno to do some proper tuning.

A z28 with those mods might beat a stock s2k, but not spank it. 96 still has the LT1 motor. More noise than speed.

cantonracer you must own some sort of american car. I just have a feeling of it because you doubt the s2ks performance.

Umm yea Cantonracer definitly makes a valid argument... Lets review:

"A 96 Z28 with those mods should spank a stock S2000.

Something is wrong with his car."

Definitly an award winning debate there.... LOSER

If you want to disagree with me, fine, but there is no need for calling me a name...and where exactly is your amazing debate to put yourself on a pedestal to call others names? Thought so.

As for owning domestic, I sure do. I have a 2003 Lightning and a 1996 Z28. I know exactly how LT1's run, how the run with the mods listed and how to tune the cars. What do you know about them?

Most BONE STOCK LT1's run high 13's, low 14's with MPH's in 98-101 range. From what I have seen, only well driven S2000's will do so. Your talking about two entirely different designs in mind. The F-body platform was concerned with acceleration with some handling. Your S2000 was not designed to be a 1/4 killer, but can handle I imagine very well in twisties, yet still accelerate pretty good.

Then you add mods to the LT1 which should easily reduce ET's by 1/2 second and add 3-4 MPH.

So let's say your S2000 runs a 14.00 vs a modded LT1 running 13.5...that is a spanking, a good 3-4 car lead.

At what point would you consider a beating a spanking...because basically that is opinion.

The races sound about right to me. They only went 1st through 3rd. That is maybe an 1/8 mile run. Whoever gets the jump could hold the other off. Then they raced from a roll, and the S2000 conceded he was passed in 4th and got beat by 3 cars. Because he was passed in 4th in the last race, I think it'd be fair to say if the first two races would've gone the full 1/4 mile the Z28 would've won. I see nothing wrong with this story. The S2000 won one and the Z28 won two. Reaction time and traction is everything in a race from a stop.... especially in a short 1/8 mile race.

I agree though, name calling is not needed.
