S2K vs Orange CL Type-S
I ran a few CL-S before. 40-90mph, 70-100mph etc....... I won every time, not by much, a car or so.
Today, I ran an Orange CL-S. It looked stock. I was doing about 60mph, in 4th. He was 2-3 cars behind and all of a sudden he gunned it. So I shifted to 3rd (Perfect, in Vtec) and floored it. For a second, we were side by side, then he started to pull, at a pretty good rate. I gave up at ~75mph. He was already a carlength ahead and still pulling. I was thinking "WTF?" I felt embarrassed.
What could he possibly done to his car? Nos? His car was not loud at all.

NOS/SC. a stock CL Type S shouldnt pull that hard on the S. I know, i used to own one
from 80-120 the Type S is pretty dam quick. After 125 or so, that car just dies.... no more power.
I definitely think the S can take it 130+

If you didn't know what to listen for, you wouldn't be able to tell if he just had headers. But that still wouldn't do the trick. The only orange CL-S's are automatics, and even with header/intake an auto CL-S is not going to take an S2K. Now, a 6-spd would be a good race with those mods.
There's also the issue of the start. Anyone who gets a running start on you has a major advantage. But if you guys were truly side by side at the exact same speed for a second, then he must have had something more. Why not check out the Acura CL forums and see if he posted there?

The CL-S you encountered must have something more... By no means a definitive result but from my one experience with a CL-S, the S2000 seems to be considerably quicker especially at elevated speeds.
I had a CL-S pass me at full bore when I was doddling down this rural road until it narrowed into a single lane. He closed in on some slower traffic ahead and I was now immediately behind him. I anticipated that he wanted to also see how well his CL-S stacked up against my S2000, by the numerous glances he made in his rear view mirror (I wasn't riding his ass or anything either).
As the passing lane loomed ahead he gapped the car in front to get a good run into the passing zone, and I was in 2nd gear at about 5000rpm (effectively out of VTEC). Being that I was behind him, he obviously got the jump on me as I could see the back end squat slightly and a small puff of black smoke from the twin exhaust outlets. He proceeded to pull away slightly and then the distance, now about a car-length gap, stabilized until about 7500rpm on the S2000. After that, the S2000 started reeling in the CL-S at an alarming rate. In fact, I shortshifted 3-4 to prevent the S2000's nose from punting the tail of the CL-S into the nearby forest. I decided to call it quits at 100mph and the CL-S took off, probably on his way to north of 130mph. I never saw him again....
Some observations:
1) The CL-S sounded very nice. It had a nice metallic growl that was reminiscent to me of a muted NSX, or a 91+ Acura Legend.
2) The CL-S' pilot was alone. I had a passenger (approx. 170lbs), top down, 1/4 tank of gas.
3) Cool late summer evening.
4) I'm all stock except for a modified stock airbox running a K&N conical filter (The stock intake scoop has been blocked off and 4" ducting sources a cooler air source. Heat exposing areas of the airbox are insulated with heat reflective material). That and the coolant lines to the TB, and IAC are bypassed.
My particular S2000 seems to run very strong in comparison to other S2000's I've driven especially on hot days.
