I passed a black convertible C5 on the way to work. He seemed to be slowing down to let me catch up (he was on the brakes with no one slowing down in front of him), but as I passed him I looked over to see him drinking a coke. After I got 5-6 cars in front of him he changes lanes and follows me. I couldn't figure the guy out, because I'd change lanes to get around the slower car in front of me...he'd let me change, and come back into the 'fast lane'...then he'd make his move to follow me. Each time I thought that he wasn't going to follow me - but then he did. Maybe he was finishing up his breakfast.

Anyhow, the traffic cleared up and I see him coming on decently...he moves over to the far right lane and I see him get on the gas hard as he enters my blind spot. Since he was in my blind spot, and we were both passing a car in the middle lane, I couldn't tell how hard he got on the gas. I drop to 4th at 90-ish and slam on the gas, just in case. He enters my view as he moves into the middle lane next to me, full throttle (imo). He gets his Vette about 1.5 car lengths in front of me and changes lanes into my lane. I shift into 5th as he changes lanes and I stay on his butt through 5th gear. We encountered some traffic as well as seperate off-ramps and went our own ways. I could tell he had an exhaust. It didn't take me very long to catch up to his speed after he took the jump. Wish it had been a longer run.

Hey Wesmaster, I saw your car on Westheimer on Saturday, I paced you for a while but you did not bite, now that I see your mods, it is probrally better you did not, I was in the Black 98 GT on chrome with LOUD pipes, you remember? A cop came around and I turned off?

 

I make all of these stories up. Everyone knows that Vettes are the fastest car on the street.

 

I remember you. I was waiting for things to open up, I don't normally rev up in traffic. I was dissapointed that you turned off because I could tell you were interested in running. Maybe I'll see you around again. Black GT with loud pipes...shoot, I see you every day.

 

Yea there are lots of them, I should have my nitrous back on the car before March, I need to take it back Houston Performance and fix my A/F, when I do we would probrall have some good runs, the best I have run on Nitrous has been a 12.7@107, that was on a 1.9 60ft, it could get better but I am happy for now, do you ever go to HRP??

 

I beat C5s in a minivan. The C5 Vette is not the end-all straight-line supercar.
