Default THE SHUTDOWN.

sorry havent posted any good kills lately, been on vacation and without my S.
so im cruising the strip tonite, with intention of ending up at the street races. and what pulls up next to me, a saleen s281 convertible, auto to boot. it was a newer body style, but prob 99 or 00. nice lookin car, but not fast. so we go through some back and forth moves and cant get sided up. finally we end up sided at russel and polaris, where everyone meets for the street races, and im ready for this guy, as id watched him launch (tryin to race me) at the last 2 lights. weak. so i bring it up, to 3 -3500, and watch the light, it turns i let him have it, i was sideways all of first and spun about 10 feet of second, and it was bye bye baby, stayed out in front about car and a half, all the way to 100. and everyone saw it LOL, tons of folks from the gas station. so the dude was bent, and just blew buy me and cut through traffic and bailed. man, i was rolling so hard, i love my ap2.
gnite all. dave

It's from that Argentinian chick that's all over the net. There's a thread about her in the Off Topic.

Good kill, how did you manage to get it sideways off a 3500 launch?

drive an ap2 my friend. and then you shall see. i know where you come from, i had an ap1, and i couldnt launch the thing for nothin.(no torque) now, i launch between 2500 and 3500, and the car spins all of first but it is going forward at the same time, technique known as *clutching* the tires bite every 2nd or 3rd rotation, so you stay in the power band with a lil 4 cyl, and yet you are going forward hard, there is a fine line as the car hooks up and you have a split sec to shift before you bounce limiter. ask anyone who has a fast ass front drive car what im talkin about.
and since you are on the driver side, you are applying weight to the driver rear tire, and the pass rear has no load, so it tends to spin first, causing the car to slide to the right, the back end *Kicks out* if you will, about 1 ft. it looks cool, and i can squirrel all of second if i come back on the clutch hard, but i usually want to go forward in second, so i roll the clutch/gas soft so as not to spin. normally i run the right rear at 30 psi, and the driver at 40, so i get a good straight smooth launch, but that day we had been doing high speed runs, and i had both rears at 40, and didnt plan on stop light racin that eve.
anyways, drive safe, and enjoy your S's. dave

Yes thats one difference between my 00 and my 04, you launch at such low rpms but you still go. I was racing a mustang the other day and the rear end kicked out so much i though i was gonna hit the curb.
