They are getting better. The new Solara is a very nice car, and with a supercharger it might hang with us. Stock 3.3 V6 has 225hp @ 5600 rpm and 240lb torque @3600 rpm with a 5speed auto. The V6 Solara SLE weighs 3450 lbs(coupe)and has lots of toys to make you Happy on the longest drives.

Now if you want to compare a S to a Toyota, we need to match up to a SUPRA.
Last year in the states was 98 or 99 and the Twin Turbos would kill us. The stock lower end can handle 1000hp

Toyota PLEASE bring back the SUPRA

I think since Toyota is heavily involved in racing and stuff, atleast they could put out a product so that people can use a car that has toyota's racing technology in it. I think the IRL should enforce toyota to design another sports car for them to compete, kinda like Nascar required certain things for the company's to race or whatever, something like that!

a better comparison between the s2000 and a toyota would be the MR2 Turbo. 2800lbs 200hp 200ft lbs. Stock performance #s are very even with the s2000. Very little money makes that car an ass stomper.

I currently work at a toyota dealership, and there mare rumors all the time about toyota bringing back the supra, or going to produce a sport car to compete against others. It's all bs though. The days of toyota's legendary race cars are long gone. The new celica's, and mr-s are pieces of shit, and should never have been put into production. True you can build them to be fast, and what not, but it isn't the same as the old school 86 corolla's, the supercharged mr2's, turboed mr2's, and if anything toyota will never make a vehicle capable of coming close to the all mighty toyota supra. I really wish the supra would come back with the inline six twin turbo, and show these other manufacturers what a true sports car is.

that sentence kinda sounds like you got beat by one??? did you??? cause that's pretty bad if you did
No I haven't raced one yet. I've read in other forums of a few solaras beating s2k's, although I can pretty much verify the falsehoods in their claims. I'm just checking if anyone in this forum can explain how/why they allegedly lost. No flame war please!!

A supercharged Solara will put out over 300hp and 300lbs of torque, and with a tranny mod the car can be pretty quick. About mid to low 13s at the track.

Toyota plans to stop making the Celica and MR2 spyder.

The Sion TC is a better buy with the Camry 2.4L. Add a supercharger and tranny mod to that car and you will have some fun. About mid to low 14s at the track. However the handling must be improved to hang with our S.

Would love to see Toyota make a small roadster with the 4.7V8 (now 283hp) add supercharger and add another 100hp. That car would be fun and around $35,000 with out SC. SC cost about $5,500 to $6,000 and worth every penny.

New tC is one nice little car. Would buy one anyday. Hopefully the Supra will comeback soon. Suposely if it does it was going to be a V8. I hope they just make it a very reliable and high revving V8.

rumor has it that if Toyota releases the Supra it will be equipped with a n/a V8...likely the current 4.7L in production.

PS- the stock Supra block will not handle 1000hp. it has in a few cases but it's pretty rare. it will on average handle about 600-800hp. i've read about one to many blocks that have given up before reaching that peak. so what i'm trying to say is...it's not a very accurate statement to throw out there.

[QUOTE=Halo,Sep 3 2004, 07:41 AM] I think you have cause and effect reversed there.

TRD supercharger already out for the 4.7V8 and you keep your factory warranty on the Tundra.

If built right you can get 1000hp out of a stock straight six Supra engine. However 600 to 800 hp is much safer, and a lot cheaper.
