Default stock '00 vs turbo

crusing home from working out at cousins house tonight i was stopped at a red light. a car pulls up on the left lane. im in the middle. he doesnt pull up all the way. his nose at my door while i'm all the way up at the crosswalk. at this point i dont know what kind of car it is cause it's night out and raining. all i know is that it's modded. exhaust and "hyper white" corners.
light turns green. i get off the line a tiny bit quicker then i usually do, but not anything where it would get the attention of the po-po. the car in my right is 4 gazillion miles behind and to my left is that hyper white light bulb still shinning in the corner of my eye.
were now half a block past the light we were stopped at. im still in 1st at maybe 30ish mph. i give it a lil more and get a full length on him. he does the same and paces me. now i'm all out to the floor gettin ready for 2nd and expecting to see ricer lights in my rearview. but hes not there. hes actually half a length ahead of me when i hear it....BOV... psssst bbbrrrraaaarrrrhhhh
i'm flat out through 2nd and now i'm ahead comming up on 3rd but before i get to it i see him slowly trailing off. i'm up by 1 1/2 before my block comes and i ahve to turn so i get on the middle pedal.
right before i turn he passes me up at posted limit. i see what must have been 18' chromies dual tips and a badge...SRT-4. but no wing.

who got the win? i dunno. he was trailing off near the end but it didnt seem like he was pourposely pulling the plug. was he just backing off slightly cause we were reaching triple digits in the rain? i sure wasnt. almost seems like this was more of a game of chicken to see who would back off WOT first in the weather conditions.
i'm on brand new hankook rs-2's by the way. less then a week old.
