Default Stock Ap1 vs mazdaspeed3

Hey there guys, just bought my 01 s2k a few weeks ago and finally got a chance to have a couple runs with my friends speed3. He's got a 08 with a mazdaspeed exhaust and intake, my car was bone stock.

First run he took it easy one me and gave me headstart, bad idea. We started at 45 and I stayed 2 car lengths ahead all the way to 110.

Run two he figured out he couldn't pull any punches, and we start again at 45. I still pull on him from the beginning, and beat him by over 1 length to 110 again. By 100+ he seems to start to real me in, but I don't think he could catch me till we got to around 125.

I was really surprised by the turnout, I love my s2k but it just doesn't seem to have that hard pull my friends speed3 does when he gets on it. Hopefully we can have a few more runs. I'm putting my testpipe on in a few days and he plans on getting a cobb accessport eventually, I'll see if we can't share a vid with you guys sometime soon.

yeh its funny.

The s doesn't have much of the 'pull' feel however it is still fairly quick.

I guess thats the natural characteristics of an n/a.

Nice run anyhow

the ms3 actually handles REALLY well. So on a track it can and probably would keep up with you, especially since it would never be waiting on power out of a turn.

that 'pull' feel is called torque and no, we dont have any of that.

I'm a bit surprised by this as well. But cool story and glad to see you put him in his place
From what I hear those cars are weird, and in order to get the fastest times in those cars you have to shift like 2krpms before redline bc the turbo is so small and just dies out so it'd be better to short shift it. Not sure at all though, never driven one before.

but I agree with SkateForGirl, once he gets the tune, you wont be seeing anything but tail lights.

MS3 was one of the only other cars I was looking at buying besides MY02 that I bought last summer!! MS3 and S2k FTW. I'm still alawys envious when I see the MS3 at the parking lot of my work everyday as well.

Yeah, the power drops off after 5.5k rpms, the redline is at like 7 something I believe. We've lined em up a few more times, and from 65 it's a completely different story. He's just got too much top end for me to be able to keep up. Really wanna race him from a dig next, think i'd take him no problem.
