Default Strange freeway encounter

I'm driving along the 94 in San Diego last night in the R32, headed out on a date with my pregnant wife. Along comes a modded black Mk4 GTi, who does a quick flyby then slows down next to us. I look over to give him the VW/peace sign and say hi, but he's intently profiling, looking tough, and not looking over.

Um, okay.

I look back to the road, look at my wife, and shrug. She then says oh hey, hey's looking over! So I look back to wave hi again, and again he turns back to profiling and bobbing his head slightly (i presume in time with whatever he's listening to, but you never know). Again does the "I'm driving next to you but I'm too cool to acknowledge you" thing.

Anyways, I was kinda concerned that he'd do something stupid, so I took off the cruise control and let off a bit to let him get ahead. He slows down exactly next to us again. Again, he won't look over at us. Now I'm thinking, if I speed up, I bet anything he's going to think I'm racing him. Ugh.

Fortunately for me, we came up on traffic, and I just let him go on ahead in it, then I got onto the 15 and he stayed on 94.

Very weird. People used to complain about R32 drivers not giving recognition to other drivers on the road, so maybe this was some hack's revenge for that? I don't get it.

Some people just have too much time on their hands / just bored out of their minds / just idiots. It's best just to let it go.
