Street Racing?
I know it's dangerous and silly, but I have found myself not backing down when challenged. The ricers are a joke obviously, but I have had brief encounters with a very moded(judging from the outside) 350z and an RX8. Trafic was the biggest obsticle in these challenges. For all cars that are sub 5 seconds, 350Z, RX8, Mustang GT, etc., it is probably a waste of time to race. It will boil down to driver and traffic, fearlessness, etc. These encounters have all been drive ups and no stop lights.
There will be many people telling me this is a punk thing to do anyway and I am risking too much. That may be true and I hope to never see the consequences. Let it be known I am 32 and not 18. I just love driving this car hard. AND yes a hundred people will say auto x, it's safer. I might soon, but this thread is about street encounters. I want to hear all stories. From wasting ricers to edging out a seemingly faster vehicle, or any intersesting encounters.
Also, when doing this in traffic, I think that rpm beeper might be worth the money. Because I have to pay attention to traffic, it's hard to keep an eye on tach and I bouce off the limiter often.
Also, no flamers. I know it's immature and dangerous as previously stated. I don't do it all of the time and have never challenged anyone myself, but like I said it is hard to back down from certain foes.

This is one of my older post... This was before my vafc and exhaust, quality isnt the best but what it works
Ok so I have an 01 s2k I have a test pipe and an Intake and fully gutted trunk. I have some cooling mods but those aren't installed yet and they don't give power any ways. So last night I went out with my american car friends. I have ran against cars that have posted times of high 13 and beat them so I say im good for mid to high 13's. The video quality isn't the best so sorry for that, but I was using my digital camera for video's. I had such an awesome looking video of me pulling the 5.0 but I deleted on accident, but anyways, enjoy!!!
1st race--- My s2k on the left against an 01' camaro ss 6 speed with intake, full exhaust, short shifter and I think thats all. We raced a few times all with me pulling a bit on the launch and then him catching up and being even with by 115 mph. We tied every run..... video here:

2nd race--- My s2k on the right vrs a 2002 mustang gt with full exhaust and thats all. We raced a few times and I won every time and pulled on him harder as the speeds rose. only video i have, he does mis shift but i was still winning before that. Video here: CLICK HERE FOR RACE VIDEO
3rd race--- My s2k on the right side of the road vrs a mildly modded 5.0. exhaust, headers, gears, intake. I had such a great video of this race in the day time and It got deleted so sorry for that, but I still have the night time run. We went from a roll because as you can I was racing allot and my clutch wasn't doing so well. It's hard video to see but we ran to about 120 and I beat him by 1.5 cars. video here: CLICK HERE FOR RACE VIDEO

racing in traffic is stoopid..... As for shifting, listen carefully, become one with the S (low).
I use this guideline:
-listen for when engine sounds like it should be shifted.
-wait a bit longer
-then, when the engine sounds like its going to blow ....... then i shift
With some practice I'm sure you'll get the hang of it. Be safe.

you may never see the consequences, but others may because you like to risk it in traffic. can you live with that?
After learning of the Street Encounters forum, I realize this was the wrong place to post the question, but HAD you read it, you would have seen no need to post your comment. I KNOW speeeding is wrong etc., as I mentioned I am a grown man. However, I feel this is a very capable car and this is partly the reason I bought it. Join the minivan boards if you want to tell people how to drive safely! They are usually the ones F-ing it up for the rest of us anyway.
i'll share my stupidity . like you i dont challenge anyone, and this only happens once a month cuz most of the time im' in autocross or doing twisties with fellow s2kers. this is some of what i posted to my friends on here. sometimes it doesn't turn out the way you want it to. I'm completely stock. i've only lowered my car and thats it.
Race stories!
1st race: 2000 Honda Civic Si V-Tec(hatchback)
Mods- only thing i saw was exhaust and lowering
he wanted to do a highway race so their we went.
1st time i started in third gear at 5000rpm. he jumped a little and then when i hit 4th i pulled on him hard. and kept pulling and pulling.
2nd time i started in 2nd...he again pulled just a little bit with the torque and then as i hit V-Tec I pulled hard again. Raced to a maximum of 122mph.
Sayings after race:
what do you have in that thing! I told him nothing but the lowering springs. He told me that shit is fast. That I pulled on him harder than a 350Z with intake and exhaust. and they had a camera filming both races.
2nd Race: 1994 Honda Civic
Mods- B16 motor swap and an AWESOME tuning job..he quoted
He flashed his blinkers and told me to follow, as I did. we raced by carpet and tile. Started in 1st gear at a roll at about 5000RPM.
I pulled on him slowly every second. By the time i thought it was finished I was ahead by only a car length. While we were racing, we were hitting about 90-100mph and a cop passed us. The cop turned around and jetted toward us. We were too far ahead, i got on the highway and left and he stopped for gas. We both got away.
Sayings after race-
None really, i told him friends and we complimented how fast his car was, we talked about the cop incident and then went our seperate ways.
3rd Race- 2003(estimate) Mustang Mach 1
Mods-not sure, maybe a shifter kit my friend thinks
Race was on memorial late
Started in 2nd gear around 5500RPM
We both took off, I stayed even with him. as i hit third gear he pulled on me a little bit, my v-tec hit in and i challenged him back, 4th gear hit and he pulled on me a little bit more than the first time...he slowed, i slowed. good race
Sayings after race-
I gave him a wave and smiled and he gave me a big smile and a thumbs up. he liked it as well.
Summary-
Other races I was just playing around with them cuz they just weren't fast enough or I just didn't see potential in the race. Other than that it was a great night.
