those miatas
Well I've seen turbo miatas spank C5 vetts. Howerver it was the quality of the driving that allowed it. Not that the vett driver was bad just that he wasn't good enough. I've also seen them hold their own with good vett drivers. You buy a 20k miata spend another 6k and go woop 40k car rear end.
5.7L to 1.8L and they finish around the same. Says something about forced induction engines. 1/3rd the engine and keeping pace. Until that vett driver gets smart a pops on that twin turbo mod that is offered for about 10k. Then he's spanking supercars. But either way you look at it. It still doesn't have that gearbox that makes you smile as you shift and Convertible vetts just doen't have that roadster feeling.

have you seen the latest car and driver?? the 427 z06 i'd go for that.. 80k bout the same as a viper.. 11.7 1/4 mile.. and 3.4sec 0-60mph.. and the twin-turbo is a bit faster.. 11.5 1/4 and in top end it would smoke just about anything.

I was able to record a 3.8 0-62 mph in my turbo Miata last summer, with magazine equipment, so it's pretty acurate. Back then I was only running 21psi worth of boost, on a 1.6 engine.
Now the car is sonn to be back on the road again with a 1.9 engine, bigger turbo and a target boost setting og 26-28 psi. Should be fun! ot S2000 fun, but still huge_grin_on_the_face_funny

There is a guy in Texas named Ric who goes by the name minimonster on miata.net whose miata did 0-60 in 3.3 seconds and broke into the 10's in the quarter mile.
espentan, are you a member or miata.net?

speaking of the Venom 800...anyone see the final test of it??
0-60 2.4 secs on street tires
1.05 G's on the skid pad
75mph+ through the 700 ft slalom
1/4 under 10 secs, with a 60ft time of like 2.8 which isn't very good..hard time getting traction
0-100 in like high 5's ...it's amazing
The slalom speed is just amazing..comes with a 3 year engine and powertrain warranty!! fastest car in production with a warranty in the world. It is actually quite a bit faster then the McLaren F1, just not with as high a top speed.
0-100-0 is around 10 secs..making it a sec faster then the Mclaren F1 LM....amazing.
Anyway, just some info...if anyone was interested.
in a 1 mile test, on a rainy day, pulled 196mph in one mile...could easily hit 200mph in 1 mile had it not been for all the rain!!
200 mph in a viper in the rain....can you say...death wish??
