Default Tips for a first time 1/4 mile'r

Can someone point me to some threads about running the 1/4 mile in the s.
(I couldn't figure out a good search term, so I got lazy. )

Never did it. Thinking about doing it for a combo drag/auto-x day.

Any help appreciated.

Lower tire pressure as stated... maybe 24psi or so. What you dump the clutch at will depend on the track condition, tire tread left on your tires, and temperature.

I have dropped anywhere from 4000rpm to 6500rpm.

You want the revs to be around 6000rpm by the time the tires stop spinning. It shouldn't take long, but I will say that more often than not... when you think you spun too much, you probably didn't. Keep an eye on your 60' times after each run, and that will tell you if you need to launch with more or less wheelspin.

Hope this helps.

WOW! Is that at Raceway Park? I've never heard of such a thing (combo event).

Thanks for the tips guys.

I need to find out some more details, but as far as tires go I think I have another decision to make. For the auto-x portion I expect to run on my R compound tires. I don't think that I would want to use these tires for the drag strip. They spin too much on launch. So I plan on switching back to the s-02's for the drag part.

Again, I don't know if I'm going to take part in the event. But to answer s9000's question, yes this is at Raceway Park. It is a Honda only day held in conjunction with Urbansomthing dot com and Honda tech dot com

I've been dragging my "S" very regularly for about 6 months. I've tried a million different ways to get a good launch. Don't lower tire pressure, you don't have a 1500 horse-power car. About 38 psi is good for the rears and 40 psi on the fronts. My best 1/4 mile time is a 14.1. I did this by reving between 68-7000 rpms then dropping it hard. The tires spin for a second then it hooks up good without bogging(which happens alot if you launch below that) If you spin the tires too much let off the gas for a split second then mash it to the floor again. Good luck ,practice is the key. Also don't try to shift too fast , the s2000's synchros are slow , if you shift too fast you'll grind those gears on occasion especially 1st to second.
