10:45 at night, freeway on ramp, large sweeping turn, just past apex of turn, hit some road debris (tread from a semi truck tire), rear tires broke loose, started to slide into guard rail, turned into slide, started to slide into other guard rail, turned back, car spun out, hit both rails... Car is folked, every panel dinged up, rear left tire 90 degrees from where it should be... But no one else involved, no injuries, no issues - a good accident if there is such a thing? Insurance company says I am not at fault (at present, police really didn't like me / situation ~ I swear though I wasn't speeding / doing anything stupid)... Sigh had car all of two months.

Another one bites the dust...

What kind of tires are you running?

No pics... Tried night of with cellphone camera but couldn't get a good shot. Thought of asking insurance adjuster, but can't seem to come up with a good reason pictures (yo, wouldn't it be wicked if I had a picture of my rear tire turn 90 degrees from where it should be bro? yeah, that would be sweet... don't want to ask)

Tires, some cheap no name fronts and General Tire Exclaim UHP on the rear - I know I know, one shouldn't run with unmatched / cheap tires on a S2000 (case and point right?), it came from a dealer like that. Have a set of new BS Potenza Pole Position's sitting in my living room waiting to be installed (have not had time ~ been working 14-17 hour days for past 4 weeks).

Glad to hear that you're okay, and hope you learned your lesson about cheap/mismatched tires on this car. I guarantee you won't make this mistake again

Do they even make those in the right size? You have a MY04 don't you? Factory wheels?

Do you remember what you did with the throttle when your tail stepped out?

Yes. Unfortunately. Took my foot off the gas - lift-off oversteer? What can I say, I panicked? Was the crash avoidable? am not sure... I don't know enough about the S2000 and how it handles e.g., could have I avoided shifting the weight to the front in mid slide? dunno... (and I learned it is really tough too think about such things when you are about to jump a guardrail) Honestly I wasn't pushing anything close to what I thought the perceived limits of the car were (had driven is much harder than some random freeway turn)

The car 04'. The rims? I am not sure what is one it - some really fugly random ass rims = tax rebate was buying me some volks. Am not sure what the next set of tires / rims will be (I think the body shop - yeah so I did 11K worth of dmg, and they are fixing it) - but they are replacing the tires with whatever is stock on the car, sorta, only on one side...

Oh cars. Oh oh cars.

That sucks, man. But at least it wasn't what I thought it was after reading the thread title and what forum it was in.

Good luck with everything.
