Default Vortech S2000 vs fully built Sti

I ran into a bone stock looking 06 or 07 sti. Had stock exhaust etc.

I was in a toll booth so I gunned it a little bit coming out and I saw he was hanging behind me even when I went WOT. So I was a little confused.

He pulled along side and I was able to make out a little as I tried to talk to him haha. He said he an electric cut out and had a fully built motor with forged internals etc and an upgraded turbo but couldn't make out which one it was. Complete sleeper! Very nice looking sti.

Anyways we did 2 more pulls.

First time we would shift back and forth a little and I think I was maybe half a car ahead or so until we caught up to traffic.

Second run he got the jump on the start and then we stayed basically even up to 115 or so before we had to shut down. Were a couple really good close races!

Each race started from around 55 mph so I was a little under where I wanted to be to start. About 5k rpms or so. Think I would of jumped off a little better if I started at 6k but it was still a really good close race.
No idea what hp he was putting down but I'd imagine a decent amount being a built block with forged internals and upgraded turbo and open cutout etc.

I am vortech SC AP1 making 406whp/240tq.

Obviously both pulls were done in Mexico on my weekend trip there.

5K rpm is definitely not ideal. Why didn't you just drop down another gear?

If I dropped down to 2nd I'd have to shift after a second or two. Vtec is set at 3800 but still was a bit low rpm to start from. Was some cars behind so didn't want to drop down in speed anymore. 40 would have been perfect but oh well.

What's your trap speed? That would tell you how much power he putting down.

Nice, especially since the STI was a sleeper.

Why would you race an AWD car from a roll, etc., etc. lol.

Good kill!

Raced a cobalt turbo lol. It was surprisingly quick. I kept ignoring him as he would try to pace along side me but gave in finally.

We lined up around 60 with me in 3rd. Did 2 pulls. Both times I immediately pulled a couple of cars and then walked from there.

He must have had some good mods done though. Thought I was going to really run away. Looked highly modded from what I could tell.
