Vortech S2000 vs Z06
Last night I was up at white castles in Downers Grove, IL with a buddy of mine. I was driving my S and he was on his R1. We noticed a yellow Z06 sitting in the parking lot.
We decided to leave and head up to a club when the Z06 also started to leave. I told my buddy let's go see what he's got and we followed him out. He sees me following and does a burn out at the light to make it known to me that he was in a Z06.
We drive down Main St. in Downers Grove, IL and he nails at about 35 MPH with some traffic up ahead. So of course I did too. We were dead even, until we approached traffic (only through 2 gear), so I knew I had a chance. (I think I surprised him cause he I was right behind him the entire way.)
We played around a few times just waiting for the traffic to clear. Once he said he missed 3rd gear.
Then the traffic cleared up. We were rolling slowly and we both got it in gear. We both took off about the same time (maybe I got a little jump), and we were dead even through 1st. When I shifted to 2nd, he started inch past me, until I got up past about 7500 rpm, and then I started gaining again.
We I shifted to 3rd, we were dead even, but again he started to inch away until I got past 7500 rpm and I started to pull strong on him. He was at my rear tire when we he shut down due to traffic.
It was great run. He had 1 passenger and I had my top down. Wanted to run him again but he turned off.
Couldn't tell if it was a 385 HP Z06 or 405 HP version, at least I can say I pulled on a Z06 =)
If we both launched at the light, he would of had me out of the hole and I probably wouldn't be able to catch him.
My buddy saw everything on his R1. He said he was surprised I did so well. Wish I had it on video.

How much whp are you putting out on your Vortech setup?
I'm not saying I don't believe you, but it's going to pretty hard for you to pull a Z06 regardless if it's the 385 or 405 version. They can run low low 12s stock, and on a Vortech S it'll be pretty darn good if it ran mid 12s. Maybe the Z06 driver couldn't really drive? He sounded like a tool by doing that burnout at the light just to show off. I'd say you beat the driver.

You are definitely making the power... if he had the 405 hp version, assuming the same drivetrain losses, you're still coming up short, though. If he had the 385, it's a dead heat. You are obviously the better driver.
Here's some quick calcs:
Car---------RWHP------weight-------driver------passenger------- lb/HP
385Z06-----330---------3100--------160----------160--------------10.36
405Z06-----350---------3100--------160----------160--------------9.77
SC S-------318---------2900--------160 ----------- 0 --------------9.62
Not sure what the weight of the other driver and passager are but lets assume 160 for each.
My S would have the best power to weight ratio. Especially against the 385 HP version. The 405HP version would be close.
405HP version without passenger would beat my power to weight ratio.
Then I would have to spray to beat him.
