Default VR-4...finally.

Finally got to race a VR-4...I'd been dying to after some of you read that old thread of mine that went on for ages. Heres how it went:

He revved up at me at a light...it was a nice night and I was just out for a ride, so I said what the hell.

I launched the car at 3500 instead of 4500 (i had my stock rims on, which are narrower in the rear than my 18s...didn't want too much spin).

I put my rear end at his bumper almost immediately. Took 2nd to redline and already had 2 1/2 cars between us. I shut her down at 90mph and easily had 4-5 cars on him.

He wanted more. We were both getting on the highway, and as soon as I merged on, he swerved to the lane next to me and signaled to go at 55mph. He downshifted and took off. He got the jump as I was still downshifting to 3rd. He pulled until I hit the powerband in 3rd and I gained it back through the top of third and was ahead by about 1/2 a car to 110, so I pulled a car and a half on him from 55-110 with him getting the jump. Had I gotten the jump, I think I would have put a heck of alot more.

It was a good race, about what I expected though. I assume he was stock. Oh, and the weather tonight definetly favors him!! Nice and cool and dry!! about 70 or so! My car likes it too, but his turbo's must be LOVIN it

i find it really hard to believe you jumped on him in the beginning. you sure it was a VR-4? V6-tt and AWD will give a rediculous launch. if anything, he should have pulled ahead strongly from the beginning then you'd probably pull ahead after that. are you stock? you sure it wasnt a base or SL model?

You'd be suprised how well a mid engined car launches. Turbo's has nothing to do with how that car launches as they don't spool up until a ways through 1st. I'm positive it was a VR4. I've raced the base model 3000GT and a Stealth R/T (non turbo) and beat them by bus lengths.

No video, no proof.

Too easy for me to give kudos here... but oh well... good win.
