Default Walked an 04 GTO from a roll!

First off beside my S2000 I own an 04 GTO M6. So no flames. I was surprised on this outcome. Therefore I am almost positive the Goat was an Automatic. But who the hell knows.

MMOB cruising down the highway and I see a car coming up fast in my rear view. Had no I dea what it was. As he passes me I look over and am like dam that sounds mean. He accelerates and goes by. Hey Thats an 04 IBM GTO. Sweet. I start to follow but this guy has a lead foot. He's cruising at close to 90. So I keep him within 1/4 mile or so. I'll catch up when traffic gets heavier. Sure enough a few miles down the road Traffic gets heavy to slow him down. I speed up some and finally catch him. Both in Fast lane i'm behind him. Bam traffic clears in the left lane and its off to the races. I stick on him like glue from 75 up to 110 or 115 or something like that and actually had to lay off the accelerator a couple of times. I slow and eventually he slows. He takes the next exit. So do I

Finally I see him slow down so I can get side by side. Clear traffic ahead for a decent run. I'm maybe 2 or three feet behind his bunper in the left lane him in right. I want to get even but he's not really slowing. Then I see him squeeze the accelerator. Dam....So I squeeze my accelerator at about50 mph. I walk on by him and I am ahead before the top of third(80 mph) traffic in my lane. Have to shut down. I looked over as I walked him and the look was priceless.

He had a passenge. I did not.

Oh yeah I was driving my 2002 s2000 with top down. Mods are 4.77 gears and an AEM intake.

I'm pretty sure the Goat was an Auto. But I could of swore I hear him rev it a few time like a manual. But i'm 75% sure it was an auto.

I own both an 2004 GTO and an S2000. I can run mid 13's at 104 mph in the GTO. .Don't think my S2000 can do that. I'll take the s2000 to the drag strip this weekend and see.The 2004 GTO has 350 hp. The 2005 has 400 hp. So I have a feeling it was an automatic which run slightly slower than manuals....high 13's at about 101.

The gears in my s2000 are what did it. I muster up a good 4 or 5 car lengths on my friends 350z from a dig to 80 or 90 and can walk him from a roll.

Gears rule!

It was probably an auto GTO and your gears are why you won.

I actually wouldn't doubt that it was a manual. I say this because from 60 to 120 my friend only pulls about 2.5 cars, sometimes 3 cars on my S w/o the spray. WisconsinS2k has a video of 4.57 gears putting about 4 cars on another S... With 4.77's I think that was possible, However I think the GTO would start catching up post 110 or so. The thing never loses torque!

Never looses tourque???

Beyond 110 the massive amount of tourque is doing next to nothing for the car, as speed increases touques relative affect on acceleration is diminished exponentially.

The reason it is as fast as it is on the top end is due to the crazy amount of HP it has (400).
