Default Weekend encounter with S2K

Last Saturday night, I was cruising in Sunnyvale on El Camino. I was driving my M3 and my friend was driving his 1996 Porsche Turbo S. All of a sudden, a black S2000 cuts off in front of me and sticks to my friend's porsche like glue. We stop at a traffic light and the 3 of us are in one single line with porsche in front and me in back. Light turns green and the s2k is still on my friend's ass. So my friend calls me and asks me if he should smoke him. I said, sure, I'll follow. Before I even hang up the phone, the porsche takes off and so does the s2k. I was going about 30mph in 3rd gear at the time so I downshift to 2nd and followed the s2k pretty easily. By the time I reached 3rd gear, the porche was already half a block ahead. Those things are wicked fast! I never passed the s2K, not sure if I could even if I tried since he did get the jump ahead of me.

But the thing that gets me is this. He sees a porsche and an m3 and he decides to pick on the one he can't touch. I mean, if he was picking on me, he might have a slight chance, but with the porsche, no way. My friend later told me he just took off in 3rd gear. You guys think that was possible? Walking on the s2k like that with 1 higher gear? Anyways, this thread is not to flame the s2k, 'cause you all know how much I love the s2000, but rather the driver that was just begging for a spanking.

Peace.

Driver really wanted to see how fast those Turbo Ss are, or he's just a moron.

mmmmm... let me think..... no, I don't think he would have had any chance against the M either, unless he is FI, but thanks

I was gonna say, I have raced E46 M3s on the highway. You would have eaten him for lunch, regardless of how big a jump he got (within reason, of course).
Now that guy is going to tell everyone he got beat by a Porsche, but smoked a new M3
Your car is very fast. Stop hanging around with faster turbo 911s, they're giving you a complex

maybe the reason is because he like to get spank by something more powerful (some people are seriously into those S&M stuff)

I'd race ur M3 or a porsche and all... but I wouldn't be an ass about trying to do it! It's all in fun, even if I know I'll lose.

I have an upcoming race with a lightly modded Nissan Skyline R32, that I'm sure I'll lose to, but hey, it's all in fun, and makes for great video to post on s2ki.com.

yeah man, your m3 is crazy fast too! unless we're FI, we will see your tail lights fading come on now, you couldn't have been pushing it that hard! he would need a rather hefty jump for you to never catch him....or ran out of running room. you have nothing to fear from a NA S2000. btw, are you talking about the newer porsches???? those are rather scary! hahahaha

i'd run either too....but for fun and with a smile. i don't like cocky/arrogant ppl, regardless of what they drive. YOU should have smoked him too! tailgaters suck! haha

Thanks guys for your kind responses. I would not have any ill feelings toward anybody that just wanted a friendly race. But this guy was just plain rude. He was tailgating my friend for at least 1/2 mile. Yeah, I guess I should've red-lined my 2nd gear and smoked him. But I guess at the time, I was too much in awe on my friend's porsche and just thought to myself, "Why bother? I'd never catch the Porsche." So I wasn't really pushing it that hard (probably not even full throttle, can't remember).

BTW, you guys really think my M3 is THAT much faster than your S2k's? I mean, someone like WIsconsinS2k can do the 1/4 in 13.7. I never ran my car at the track, but I think my m3 is capable of running low 13's. So any error in my part will bring our cars pretty damn close.

Can Wisconsin S2k run a sub 14 1/4 without drag slicks?

Wisconsin S2k, could you please share? What is your fastest 1/4 time without slicks? What was the weather like that day?
