I raced one yesterday. Red. Had a V6 badge on the back. And I could hear a BOV, so it was turbo as well. Are those stock turbo?

I almost lost. Guy totally surprised me with how quick he went off the line. (that's what I get for underestimating, and assuming what the other guy has under the hood). But I was able to pass him with 3rd gear, and kept pulling on him. I'm trying to keep this short, since you all know how races go.

But anyways, what the hell is an MX6? And this guy also had a huge wing (much like the celica I raced yesterday as well). What is with huge wings???? grr...

Mazda MX-6, I think 96 was the last year they made the car. Its stock at v6 2.5L 164hp 2800LB, no stock turbo, and its suppose to be very slow. Sounds like the one you raced must got the hook up, I'm soo soo surprise it kept up with a S2000 at the start. GOOD KILL

Well he did get the jump since I underestimated him, but I did pull on him pretty thoroughly. I'd say he got 2+ lengths right away, since he got the jump and I roll started. But I was passing him by the time I hit 3rd. But it was a quick little devil, I'll give it that!

 

it's basically a Ford Probe GT with a different body and name plate. 2.5l V6, 164hp as previously mentioned.

For their time they were considered pretty fast, about as fast as cars like the Integra GSR, Honda Prelude and Eclipse turbos, they were mid 15 sec cars.

I didn't know they made turbos for them though. That would have surprised the crap out of me.

 

The 1st generation mx6 came stock with a turbo. I've never raced or driven one but anything is possible with a well modified turbo car. They are supposed to suffer from shocking torque steer being front wheel drive and all.

It is the same engine as the Ford probe, since Mazda made that engine for Ford. They came in 4 cyl turbos and V6's, but were never very fast (same as a probe). A friend of mine used to have a stock turbo MX6 that I used to race in my stock Corrado VR6. I would always win by a little...

 

i've seen some pretty quick mx-6s on the track...good kill!!

 

I was playing around with a '94 Probe GT on the interstate the other day and his was quick. Definitely not stock. I had a '94 GT and mine wasn't as quick as that one. Someone must be making a turbo kit for the 2.5L V6. Wish my S2000 would smoke the tires the way my Probe did.

 

Put a stiff suspension and sticky ass tires like the S2000's on the probe, and it will also have a hard time spinning the tires.
