Okay, I am sick of the whole "I passed you, so you feel you must flash your brights at me" thing. What is the point of this? Today I passed some lady doing 40 in a 45 and she flashes her brights at me. Okay, this is just dumb. Does anyone else know where I am coming from? Why do people do this. You are driving slow, and even if you're not, what does flashing your brights accomplish. It's not like my feelings are hurt... "oh woe is me... i think i'll pull over now and find a way to hang myself from my rearview mirror because i'm so hurt". If you know anyone that does this... please tell them not to. And feel free to hit them too.

Someday one of these people is going to flash their brights at the wrong person. And they are going to end up a victim of road rage, or even dead. It's stupid to flash your brights at someone cuz they "passed" you.

Know what you mean.

Down here in 'old people' city, we are now infested by the snowbird community from your part of the world. They drive at 30mph in the fast lane of a 3-way highway, never look in their mirrors so I am always having to shift and weave in and out of lanes to get past.

Then at any lights, they look at you like you have commited capital murder and are a menace to society. What do they think the mirrors are for since they have already lost their hair, teeth etc...not looking at yourself but to look at traffic around you!!!

I hate it too, but sometime they do it by accident or unintentionally. I have many cars different make and model and always find my self turning on the wrong switches, one with the wiper on the left, other on the right, ect..

yeah i just had osme old guy try to not let me pass tonight. I'm crusing home from a church thing on a nice 3 laned freeway in the middle lane going about 70. Suddenly I see 2 cars in front of me, I eventually reach them and the clunker on the right lane is going probably about 50ish and has his hazards on but for osme odd reason this ford tarus in front of me in this plane has the need to go 50 to. Anyways I decide to pass so I signal and move over and right as I start to pass this guy in the tarus speeds up and keep pace with me. No matter how fast or slow I'd go he'd just stick there next to me. I even got on it a bit twice and he jumped on it too to stay next to me and he just smiled and look at me the whole time and he had some fat teenager in his passenger seat the whole time laughing and clapping. As we start getting closer to my exit I need to get over so I just put it all the way down and walked him from 65mph to about 95mph and as I proceded to dust him he felt the need to shine his brights over and over and over. He even followed me off the freeway and flashed his lights at the light and when it turned green he made a turn and got back onto the freeway going the other way.

now someone tell me what was the point of this? Isn't the passing lane used for faster traffic to pass slower traffic? Why are there so many stupid drivers in this world that are in the need to do stupid things?

ok that's my rant.

Karim

I've been know to do that on occasion, normally right after I've been passed or a guys just doing a lane change and the jerk comes back into my lane and tries to occupy basically the same space that I'm already in. I certainly don't mind sharing the road with these idiots but not the same spot. In the old days on open highways flashing the brights for a car that was passing was a sign of courtesy to let the passing driver know that he was clear enough to come back into the lane.

I've had people flash their brights at me a few times (3 months ownership). A couple have gone so far as to mouth angry comments from behind their closed windows.

I figured it out (for my instances at least)...it's the headlights. Most people hate our HID lights. They think that the lights are on hi-beams and consequently drive slower and bitch at me.

Poo-hoo. Wait till 5 years from now. Practically every new car costing more than $20 grand will have HID's. (I don't remember a new car at the Detroit show this year that didn't have HID's.)

So in 2007, people will either realize the beams are correct, or they will quit driving. I prefer the latter. (God knows there are WAY too many people around that haven't a clue while they are driving. I suggest an IQ test for licensing requirements.)

I think you might be right about the HID headlights, I get oncoming traffic flashing me sometimes. They must really feel stupid when I hit them with the hi-beams.
