Just curious out of all you guys that end up in races, do you get revved at a stop light or do they rev at you, or on the highway or whatever. im not one to instigate a street race. there have been a few times ive pulled up to a stoplight with a 350z next to me, mustang, or camaro, kind of waiting for them to rev at me or egg me on. but i don't know if i would race them, i got caugt racing once 3 years ago in my rsx, got a nice ticket, haven't raced since, but only at the track. It would be nice to beat one of those cars though . ive had my S for 3 months now and not one rev at me, but its probably better that way haha. Ill try to save it for the track if i ever go.

 

I drive aggressively (move through traffic at higher-than-legal rates of speed) and that seems to instigate a bunch of responses. But I've never rev'd or otherwise tried to get anyone's attention at a stoplight. When I had the S2000 it seemed like I had a target painted on my door. Every punk in a slightly modded ride wanted a piece of me.

Since I switched to a Z06 I get more respect. Hardly anyone pulls up next to me and wants to race any more. Probably better for my license, though I still drive aggressively. More people challenge me on my bike, which makes me shake my head in wonder! Maybe it is the luggage but my bike (FJR1300) is not even slow among bikes.

 

well for me, I rarely ever get revved on. If I am being revved on , then I dont hear it over my car. Most people seem to want to play with me from a roll. Guess they think my car is like most stock LT1's and runs out of breath up top.

The only time I ever get revved on is when the person doing the revving knows I'm in no position to actually race them, ie. when they are going the opposite direction I am going, they will give it a good rev right as they get to my door or if for example I'm waiting at a 4-way stop facing west and they are facing south, their light turns green and they will goose the throttle as they drive by me. It's damned annoying to be honest, especially considering it's always some POS car that wouldn't even be worth wasting my gas on (there are very few genuinely fast cars around here). Anytime I go anywhere I have all these ricers buzzing around me, gets real old.

 

i dont usually rev. i think thats a bit ricey. usually *the look* is understood, or ill pull up and drop a gear and look over. they get it by then. and if they dont bite, i gear back up and mind my business.

 

I never instigate a race by revving. However if someone revs at me while I'm at a light, I will kindly give them a short run. Most of the time its some young kid with a old civic revving so they are not hard to beat. I have only had a couple of people rev at me on the highway, but have never gone after anyone on the highway.

When I'm on the Highway, many times the racers will come up on my bumper and just tail me to see if I want to race. Sometimes I'm driving aggressively trying to get to my destination, they follow me and just tail me closer. Even if I pull over to the right lane, they still will follow me. Its when I can look in my rear view mirror and see that it is a car full of teenagers, I purposely slow down to make them pass and give it up because I do not trust a car full of teenagers to be driving safely behind me.

Funny thing is after I pull aside and purposely slow down for them to pass, they start driving slower. I'd give them a taste of what they just did and push them to go back to speeding. The other passengers will keep looking back over their shoulders.
I take it as a compliment that they are just checking out the car and try not to get offended.
If they don't start picking up speed, I'll pass them, look over at the driver to see what is up with him and continue on. Sometimes they will look straight ahead and not look over, or sometimes its a node and smile. Normally they stop following after this.

 

The only thing I hate about my S is dealing the punks who saved up enough money to buy a loud muffler for their civic and think its a race car.

Maybe its just where I live but I get revved on all the time. Most of the time I dont even acknowledge them.

 

I've never instigated a race. Well once, when I was learning to drive a stick when I was 17 and over rev'd before letting off the clutch on my Geo Storm and a 68 Nova thought it was a race and blasted off... I think he was at home a sleep before I got across the intersection hahaha.
