Well, I'm not into street racing (my speeding is usually saved for getting to work, or the movies, on time ). . .

That being said, I was driving on I-80 west Sunday afternoon, top down, just cruising. . .

Anyway, a black Civic (not an Si) with clear tail lights, coffee can exhaust, stickers, etc. tried to rev on me. . . I'm still wondering what he was thinking. . .

anyway, I dropped from 6th to 5th. . . Nuff Said. I hit VTEC at about 6K in 6th gear (scary!) and looked up in my rearview mirror to see if "Civicboy" was still trying to keep up. . . By then I had about a 1/2 mile lead, so I merged to the right in order to get my exit. . .

The funny thing was that as I slowed to take my exit, the two guys in the Civic passed me and gave me a "look" that could have turned me to stone (WTF?!?!). . . As if?

Not for nothing, but if you're looking to race & you don't have the "goods" don't get an attitude when you lose. . . Just my opinion. . .

When will people learn?

I call those illiterate!!....maybe retarded!..........they just don't know and they will never know (well, in your case, you let them know!! ), but that may never make them stop.

Must have given you a nice rush though, not the fact that you dusted a Civic but the speed you may have reached, some parts of I-80 are nice to run quick on .

 

I don't blame them. They usually just want us to show them how superior the S is. Most of them know that they're going to get spanked, just wanna know by how much.

 

Interesting!, never thought of it that way. Makes sense though.

 

Most people like that are just looking for you to show them what your car can do ... if you pulled up next to a supercar (Ferrari, Lambo, McLaren, etc) would you want them to:
a) obey all traffic laws and drive like your grandma
or
b) give you a chance to hear that engine scream ... and dissapear arround the next corner in a 4-wheel drift ...

I know I'd choose b

That being said ...
An Eclipse GS owner was convinced he could give me a run (in my s2k) ...
And, a Civic Si owner was convinced he could give my friend's RX-7 TT a run ...

The world is full of idiots and you will occasionally run into (over?) them.

its so stupid to try to race a civic against a s2k

 

A stock civic you are talking about. I had a civic beat me at speed on the highway. He was behind me, and I saw him in my mirror riding my ass. I moved over into the middle lane (I was in the left) and hit the throttle half heartedly not taking the civic owner seriously. Well, that was a mistake!!

Before I knew it, I heard this incredible noise and he was coming. There was nothing I could at that point and he just strolled on past me. I still wonder what would have happened if I had mashed the throttle and had known what I was up against. My exit came up right then and I had to get off. But a kill is a kill and he definitely killed me!!

when i was a delivery boy back in high school, i cruise up and down a rich neighborhood all the time, and if i see some exotic or simply expensive cars, i'd do anything do piss them off and just tear up the road for me ...... how often do you hear a Ferrari F355 screaming at the top of its lungs ??? and just a couple cars away from you ? windows down ........ even for a split second ...... it was well worth it .....

I bet the person driving that car felt good too, coz they got their little spanking going on ....
