Well...ok...so that last explanation...they raced, the civic upshifted early, then downshifted and pulled ahead, just to fall behind to the nissan...

So as I see it, there are two explanations. The Civic didn't think they were racing, then realizing they were, he downshifted, or, his bottle ran out after a few seconds.

"haha, this thing got all complicated, so lemme just clear it up, we were at the light, we took off, i was beating him by a car length for some time, then he downshifted, caught up 2 me and passed me by a car and a half, but when he upshifted back into gear, i slowly caught up 2 him and beat him"

Hmmmm....he was at a light, but as he was getting beat, the other dude downshifted? to a negative gear I guess? lol

The last part sounds to me as if he did a ricer-flyby and THOUGHT he won! LOL

damn, worry about the gene pool!!!!!

it depends.....sometimes, mine doesn't.......

when my speed exceeds the rev limit for the second highest gear, it won't downshift to said gear when i'm in top gear.....

i know this is out of context, but just pointing it out........

He must be related to the kid that put ArmorAll all over the tread of his tires.

Actually I felt sorta sorry for the guy. He obviously isn't the sharpest crayon in the box and was just trying to pose with the big boys a bit. Unfortunately his ignorance caught up with him and they ate him alive. My guess is his posting days are over under that nick. If you wanna run with wolves, better not trip. Speaking as a newb myself, I thank my lucky stars I can bare my ignorance here on s2ki and not be publicly humilated for it. Of course, I don't think I'd ever make the mistake of calling downshifting cheating. That was monumentally stupid.

At least the Armorall guy had a nice car, which isn't exactly a good thing.

I can't believe there were people on that forum that actually believed his story and tried to make sense of what happened.

OMG, I been cheating my whole driving life. I guess I can't race anymore. I never read that in the Ethics of Racing Manual by B.S. Dumas.
